It would be the rematch of last year's Section VII Championship game as the Saranac Spartans would host the Beekmantown Eagles at the AC North Arena The game would remain scoreless until the 1:03 mark of the second period, when the Eagles would get the opening goal from Evan Bruyere and take the 1-0 lead The Spartans would waste little time tying the game at the 6:13 mark of the period when Gabe Moore would hit the back of the net, and that's where the second period would end, tied at one. Then at the 2:22 mark of the third period, the Eagles would retake the lead at 2-1 on the Edward Sweenor goal. Then, just 2:05 later, the Eagles would extend their lead to 3-1 when Mason Carter would add the power-play goal. Then, with just 1:52 left in the game, the Eagles would put the final touches on the game when Edward Sweenor would add his second of the game. In the Eagles' inning effort, Jack Bell would have 19 ss, and they go to 5-6-1 on the season. As for the Spartans, Teegan Vanvalkenburg would make 49 saves as they fall to 4-8 on the season. The Hornets would get the opening goal of the game at the 13:05 mark of the first period when Owen Dubay would light the lamp, and that's where the first period would end. The Spartans would answer at the 1:39 mark of the second period, when Brady McComber scored to tie the game at 1. The game would stay there till the 7:39 mark of the second period when Ben Bezio would give the Hornets the 2-1 lead. The Spartans would come back again and tie the game at 2 on the Deacon Giroux goal at the 13:26 mark. The game would not be rematched for Vong, as the Hornets regained the lead at 3-2 on Tames Bayer's goal, and that was where the period would end. Then at the 5:42 mark of the second period, the Hornets would take their first two-goal lead thanks to Ben Bezio at 4-2. The Spartans would answer back again at the 8:10 mark of the period when Gabe Moore would sink it by and make it a 4-3 game. The Hornets would answer back again and stretch their lead back to 2 at 5-3 when Sam Bezio scored. Then, in the closing time of the game, the Hornets would add the empty-netter for the 6-3 win. High School Boy's Hockey: Middlebury Union Tigers @ Saranac Spartans January 10th 2026

Saranac's Brady Macomber (4) scored the game-tying goal with just over a minute left, sending the game to overtime. It would be an interstate contest, as the Saranac Spartans would host the Middlebury Union Tigers from Vermont at the American North Arena as part of the state 2026 portion of their schedule. The Tigers would answer the bell just 38 seconds into the game on Evan Northrup's goal. The game would stay there for the rest of the period. The Tigers would extend their lead to 2-0 on Ethan Mulcahy's goal at the 1:22 mark of the second period. The Spartans would answer back at the 2:52 mark of the second period on the Gabe Moore goal. The Tigers would regain their two-goal lead just 13 seconds later on the Asa Root Pratt to make it 3-1. The Spartans kept coming, and at the 6:05 mark of the second period, Robbie Squier scored to make it a 3-2 game. The Tigers would once again retake the two-goal lead at 4-2 at the 8:12 mark of the period, when Asa Root Pratt would get his second goal of the game. In the third period, the Spartans would come out shooting and, once again, make it a one-goal game at 4-3 just 1:26 in on the Zane Vaughn goal. Then, at the 7:32 mark of the period, the Spartans would tie it for the first time in the afternoon on the Adrian Barnes goal. Aiddlebury would answer with 3:14 left in the game on the Tyler Munson goal. Although the Spartans wouldn't go quietly, they would once again tie the game at four on the Brady Macomber goal. The teams would head to overtime, and two minutes in, the Tigers would get the game-winner from Gabe Quesnel to secure the 5-4 win. In the winning effort, the Tigers would go to 5-3 on the season as TJ Baron made 39 saves. As for the Spartans, they combined for 18 saves, but fell to 1-6 on the season. Gallery

Saranac's Nolan Miner (9) comes in on the breakaway, and with the wrister, it squirs between the legs of Beekmantown's Jack Bell (31) for the goal as they get the 6-3 victory. It would be championship time from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena as the top 2 teams in the section would face off for the right to go to the New Yorj State Division II Tournament and it would be the classic rivalry as it would be between the #2 Saranac Spartans and the #1 Beekmanton Eagles. The Eaglwa would come out looking to defend their title as they would get the game's opening goal at the 2:40 mark of the first period from Edward Sweenor for the 1-0 lead. The Spartans would be able to answer back at the 7:54 mark of the period when Ashtyn Catilin would find the back of the net for his 100th career point, and that's where the scoring would end. The second period would start like the first as the Eagles would strike early at 1:04 to take the 2-1 lead from Novak Jarus. The Spartans would return and tie the game just 54 seconds later when Ryan Campbell would light the lamp. The Eagles would come back and take the lead for the third in the game at the 6:04 mark of the period when Edward Sweenor would get his second goal. Shortly after that, the S[artans would return and tie the game again, this time on the shorthanded penalty shot from Nolan Miner. Then, with just under two minutes left in the second period, the Spartans would get their first lead of the game at 4-3 when Ryan Campbel would wrist it by for his second goal, and that's where the second period would end. In the third period, the Spartans would expand their lead to 5-3 when Ryan Campbell would complete the hat trick at 9:15, when the puck would squeak through the five hole for the goal. Then, in the game's closing minute, the Spartans would add the empty-netter to secure the 6-3 win. In the winning effort, the Spartans advanced to the New York State Division II Boys' Hockey Tournament, where they will host the #7 Queensbury Spartans for the right to go to the final four. It would be section VII playoff time in boy's hockey and in the dsemi-finals we would see both teams that call the Ameri-Can Sports Center home as the #3 Plattsburgh Hornets would take on the #2 Saranac Spartans with a right to go to the Section VII Championship on Monday night at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. The game would go back and forth through the first period with the Spartans having the 15-3 edge on shots, but there would be no scoring. The ice would finally be broken at the 6:46 mark of the second period when Ryan Campbell would get the Spartans on the board at the 6:46 mark for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there until the 10:55 mark of the period when the Spartans would double their lead to 2-0 on the Landon Giroux goal, and that's how the scoring would end for the period. In the third period, the Spartans would take control of the game on the Nolan Miner goal at 7:35. From there,, the Spartans would clamp down the defense and hold on for the win as they go to 13-7-1 on the season and advance to the Section VII Championship against the Beekmantown Eagles and Saranac Lake Placid game winner. The Saranac Spartans celebrate their 3-0 win over the Plattsburgh Hornets in the Section VII Semi-Finals and advance to the finals next week. It would be section VII playoff time in boy's hockey and in the dsemi-finals we would see both teams that call the Ameri-Can Sports Center home as the #3 Plattsburgh Hornets would take on the #2 Saranac Spartans with a right to go to the Section VII Championship on Monday night at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. The game would go back and forth through the first period with the Spartans having the 15-3 edge on shots, but there would be no scoring. The ice would finally be broken at the 6:46 mark of the second period when Ryan Campbell would get the Spartans on the board at the 6:46 mark for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there until the 10:55 mark of the period when the Spartans would double their lead to 2-0 on the Landon Giroux goal, and that's how the scoring would end for the period. In the third period, the Spartans would take control of the game on the Nolan Miner goal at 7:35. From there,, the Spartans would clamp down the defense and hold on for the win as they go to 13-7-1 on the season and advance to the Section VII Championship against the Beekmantown Eagles and Saranac Lake Placid game winner. Beekmantown's Jack Bell (31) with the pad save for one of his 36 on the night on Saranac's Adrian Barnes in front of the net. It would be the last day of the regular season, and the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference title would be on the line, and the Beekmantown Eagles and the Saranac Spartans would face off at the Amer Can North Sports Center. The home Saranac Spartans would get the opening goal of the game and the lone goal of the first period when Evan Patrie found the back of the net and hit the back of the Eagles netminder for the goal and a 1-0 lead. In the second period, the Spartans would keep it coming, and in the 7th minute of the period, Adrian Barnes would find the back of the net and make it a 2-0 game. The Spartans would keep coming, and at the 15:13 mark of the second period, Landon Giroux would score on the shorthand when he beat Jack Bell on the short side for the 3-0 lead. Although the Eagles would do their version of the basketball buzzer beater as they would get on the board on the Edward Sweenor goal as the second period came to a close, and the Spartans would take the 3-1 lead into the third. In the third period, the Eagles would get the game within one on Edward Sweenor's second goal at 4:24. From there, the Spartans would ret and regain the two-goal lead, and the Eagles looked for the tying goal, but neither would happen. The Saranac Spartans would get the 3-2 win and hand the Eagles their first conference loss in over 3 seasons. However, the Beekmantown Eagles would be crowned the 2024-25 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference champions through the tiebreaker on goal differential by 1. In the winning effort for the Spartans, Shawn McLane would make 21 saves on the night as they go to 12-7-1 in the season and will take on the Plattsburgh Hornets in the upcoming sectional playoffs. As for the Beekmantown Eagles, Jack Bell would make 36 saves on the night as they fall to 11-7-2 on the season, get the #1 seed in the tournament, and get the winner of Saranac Lake Placid and Northeastern Clinton in the semi-finals.
