The game would be close throughout the first half, but the Cardinals would hold the lead for the whole half and end the half tied at 28. In the second half, it would be a lot like the first half and close throughout, and with 4 seconds left in the game, the Cardinals would extend their lead to three. The Mustangs would get a shot off at the buzzer, but it would rim out, and the Cardinals would get the 69-66 win after a 41-38 half. In the winning effort for the Cardinals, they would advance to the conference semi-finals and take on the #1 New Paltz Hawks as Franklin Infante would lead the way with 21 points as the Cardinals go to 15-11 on the season. SUNYAC Women's Basketball: Buffalo State Bengals @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals February 21st 2025

Plattsburgh State's Jaden Wilson (11) with the chippy along the baseline as part of a ten-point night. It would be the start of the final weekend of the regular season for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals, and they would be hosting the Buffalo State Bengals in SUNYAC action in front of 225 fans at Memorial Hall as they would be looking to get a home playoff game. The game would not start well with the Cardinals as they would get doubled up after the first quarter as they trailed 15-8. In the second quarter, the offense would come to life for the Cardinals as they would have a 22-7 quarter and take the lead at 30-22 as they went to the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Cardinals would stay hot as they would have a 19-8 quarter and extend their lead to 49-30 as they went to the fourth quarter. In the fourth, the teams would play to draw at 15, although the Cardinals would secure their 64-45 victory. In the winning effort, the Cardinal's Payton Couture would lead the way with 11 points as they go to 13-11 on the season and head into their regular-season finale against the Fredonia State Blue Devils. As for the Buffalo State Bengals, Adiya Jones would lead the way by 17 points as they fall to 5-19 in the season and will take on the Potsdam State Bears to finish the season. Gallery

The game would start with the Cardinals showing their dominance as they would get off to a quick big lead, but the Mustangs would keep coming back and have the 38-36 lead after the first half. When the teams returned for the second half, the Mustangs would keep the offense up and, at one point down the stretch, would have a couple-digit lead, win the half 48-44, and hold on for the 86-80 victory. In the winning effort for the Mustangs, Kareem Sanders scored 21 points, and they went 10-8 in the season. We would have SUNYAC Men's Basketball action from Memorial Hall as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals host the Morrisville State Mustangs as they make their playoff push. The game would start with the Cardinals showing their dominance as they would get off to a quick big lead, but the Mustangs would keep coming back and have the 38-36 lead after the first half. When the teams returned for the second half, the Mustangs would keep the offense up and, at one point down the stretch, would have a couple-digit lead, win the half 48-44, and hold on for the 86-80 victory. In the winning effort for the Mustangs, Kareem Sanders scored 21 points, and they went 10-8 in the season. The Morrisville State Mustangs would trek to Plattsburgh and take on the Plattsburgh State Cardinals in Women's Basketball from Memorial Hall in front of 200 fans. The game would start well for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals as they got off to the 17-13 lead after the first quarter. The Mustangs would be up to the fight in the second quarter as they would clamp down, have an 18-8 quarter, and take the 31-25 lead into the break. When the teams would return for the second half, the Cardinals would find their offense and put up a 20 on the Mustangs while giving up 15 and trail 46-45 as they head into the 4th quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Cardinals would keep their offense on fire as they put up another 20 points, and their defense would only give up seven as they would get the 65-53 victory. In the winning effort, the Cardinals' Julia Greek would drop 18 points as they go to 11-8 on the season and head to the road next weekend. The Morrisville State Mustangs would trek to Plattsburgh and take on the Plattsburgh State Cardinals in Women's Basketball from Memorial Hall in front of 200 fans. The game would start well for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals as they got off to the 17-13 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Mustangs would be up to the fight as they would clamp down, have an 18-8 quarter, and take the 31-25 lead into the break. When the teams would return for the second half, the Cardinals would find their offense and put up a 20 on the Mustangs while giving up 15 and trail 46-45 as they head into the 4th quarter. The Cardinals would return home for the second straight night as this time they would take on SUNYAC contender the Morrisville State Mustangs from the Ronnie B in front of 1600 fans on Casella Teddy Bear toss night. The game would start well for the Cardinals as they would get the game's opening goal from Tio D'Addario at the 6:09 mark of the first period. The lead would only stay at one for a short time as the Cardinals would extend their lead to 2-0 just over a minute later on the Colin Callanan goal. The game would remain there till the 3:44 mark of the third period when Jake Sacratini power-play goal to give the Cardinals a 3-0 lead. The Mustangs would finally be able to get on the board at the 9:03 mark of the third period when they would light the lamp on the Evan Fraccaro power play goal. The Cardinals would waste little time regaining their three-goal lead when Ryan Poorman scored a shorthanded goal 40 seconds later, making it a 4-1 game. The Cardinals would control the game from there for the win as they go to 3-3 on the season. Jacon Hearne would make 11 saves on the night, and they go to 3-3 season. The Cardinals will return to action next weekend in Middlebury for the annual Layer 8 shootout. Gallery

SUNYAC Women's Hockey Semi-Finals: #4 Morrisville State Mustangs @ #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals February 24th 2024

It would be time for the playoffs in the first year of the SUNYAC Women's Hockey as the #1 seeded Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #4 Morrisville State Mustangs in the semi-finals from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena with 570 passionate fans in attendance. The home Cardinals would waste little time getting out to the lead as they would take the 1-0 lead 5:40 into the game on the Julia Masotta goal. Then the Cardinals would expand their lead to 2-0 at the 10:31 mark of the period on Julia Masotta's second goal of the game. The game would stay there till the 3:30 mark of the second period when Ciara Wall would score on the powerplay to make it 3-0. Then with a second left in the period the Cardinals Julia Masotta would complete her hat trick to give the Cardinals the 4-0 lead after the second period. The game would stay there till there was 3:59 left in the game when Hailee Easson would score for the Mustangs to break up the shutout and make it a 4-1 game. However, the Cardinals would answer right back 57 seconds later to make it a 5-1 game and win on Julia Masotta's fourth goal of the afternoon. In the winning effort, the Cardinals advance to the first SUNYAC Women's Hockey Championship next weekend at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena against the Cortland State Red Dragons for the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
