Plattsburgh's Thomas Carron (22) hits and drives Beekmantown's DJ Gonyo (27) hard into the broads head first but he would bounce back and continue on. The Beekmantown Eagles and Plattsburgh Hornets would meet for the first of two meetings this season in the crosstown rivalry featured in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference. It would be a game that would live up to the rivalry as the two teams would duke it out throughout body blow after body blow neither of them giving an inch. The Eagles would strike first with the opening goal from Dalton Kane on the powerplay at the 8:45 mark of the first period. The game would remain there through the rest of the period and even though the whole second period as there would be no scoring. Just when you were starting to think that this might be the lone goal of the game the Hornets would answer and tie the game at 1 at the 10:44 mark of the third on the Tyler Ried powerplay goal. The game would stay there for the rest of the period and the teams would head to overtime tied at one. In the overtime frame, the Eagles would send there fans home happy as Dalton Kane would strike again with his second goal of the game and give them the 2-1 victory. In the winning effort, Riley Hansen would make 20 saves as the Eagles go to 3-3-1 on the season while the Hornets John Dublanyk would make 21 saves as they fall to 4-4-1 on the season. Next up for the Eagles will be the Northeastern Clinton Cougars on a quick turn around Monday, January 20th while the Hornets while getting the Saranac Chiefs January 21st. Gallery

It would be a long feeling out period as it would take til inside the final five minutes of the first period when Eagles Cooper Burdo would score and make it 1-0. The Chiefs would keep fighting and eventually tie the game up with three minutes left in the second period on Saranac's Hayden Buckley goal. The Eagles would keep fighting and eventually take the lead back on Luke Moser (10) to make it 2-1 with five minutes left in the game. That would be enough as the Eagles would get the 2-1. In the winning effort, Riley Hansen would make 31 saves as the Eagles go to 4-2-1 while Erik Frechette for the Chiefs would make 27 saves as the Chiefs are now 6-2 on the season. Gallery

The Eagles would get the opening goal of the game at the 4:26 mark of the first period on the Alex Brienza goal and that would be the only scoring of the first period. The Eagles would extend there lead to two on the Collin Latinville goal at the 5:29 mark of the second period. Then at the 11:36 mark of the second Alex Brienza would get second of the night on the shorthand to make it 3-0. Then with just four seconds left in the period, Alex Brienza would score to complete his hat trick and make it 4-0. From there on there would be no scoring in the third period and the Beekmantown Eagles would get the 4-0 victory. Beekmantowns Gavin Fessette (25) puts pressure on a Grand Island defenseman after losing possession in the offensive zone. The Beekmantown boys hockey team was unable to hold off its highly ranked opposition Saturday, falling 4-2 to Grand Island at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena. The game began well for the home team, as the Eagles held the Vikings - ranked No. 2 in Division 2 by the New York State Sportswriters Association - scoreless in the first period. Beekmantown added to that defensive effort with a Collin Latinville goal midway through the second period to take the lead. That lead was short-lived, though, as Grand Island scored a powerplay goal less than 5 minutes later to tie the game and tacked on an even-strength tally before the end of the period. Mounting a comeback became a more difficult task for Eagles only 21 seconds into the third period, as Grand Island captain Brian ONeill hit a sniping shot from the blue line for his second goal of the day. With 11 minutes remaining in the game, Dylan Bush made the lead 4-1 for the Vikings. Beekmantown looked to take advantage of special teams play to get back in the game, as a flurry of penalties - including a major for the board by Bush - gave the Eagles a 4-on-3 power play. A Grand Island defenseman pushed Gavin Fessette into Vikings goaltender Bobbie Currie with the puck approaching the crease, giving Alex Brienza an open net to shoot at to double the Eagles' score. That comeback effort fell short, though, as Grand Island maintained their undefeated record by a final score of 4-2. Gallery

The Beekmantown Eagles would host the John Jay Indians in the 2019 Apple-bees Beekmantown Winter Classic Championship. The Indians would get the lone goal of the first period on the Kyle Petschek goal at the 7:49 mark to make it 1-0 Indians. In the second period, the Indians would take control as they would light the lamp 3 times on goals from Ethan Jackson, Mattie Wierl and Jack Browne to make it 4-0 Indians. In the third period, the Indians would add one more just to put the icing on the cake. Although the Eagles would avoid the shutout as Gavin Fessette would score in the final three minutes. In the losing effort, the Eagles would fall to 3-2 on the season. Gallery

Beekmantown's Brianne Knight (1) with the pad save as part of a 40 save night. The Beekmantown girls' hockey team earned a home victory Friday with a 4-3 victory over Massena at the Scotts' Memorial Rink in Chazy. In a back-and-forth game that saw the teams combine for 84 shots on goal and 12 penalties, the Eagles never trailed. While the Red Raiders controlled much of the five-on-five play in the first period, penalties allowed Beekmantown to get their share of offensive pressure. Massena killed off an early five-on-three opportunity for the Eagles but surrendered a powerplay goal later in the period as Celine Juneau found Bailey Carter at the back door for the only goal of the period. Two minutes into the second period, Carter got her second tally of the night after skating in to support Leah Coulombe's drive to the net. Hannah Chilton pulled the Red Raiders back within a goal midway into the frame as the Eagles failed to clear the zone after blocking a shot in the high slot. Chilton's goal started a brief flurry of goals, as Beekmantown's Amanda Cayea tallied 40 seconds later to again pull ahead by two goals. A minute after that, Massena's Meg Wilmshurst brought the puck into the zone and put directed a shot low to the blocker side on Beekmantown's goaltender Brianne Knight. Knight tried to kick it wide while still retreating to her goal line, but could not push it far enough to keep the Red Raiders from once again pulling within a goal. The Eagles found themselves briefly facing a five-on-three penalty kill later in the second period, but key saves by Knight kept Massena from equalizing. Carter completed her hat trick midway through the final period before Brooke Terry again brought the Red Raiders within one. Carter took a penalty later in the period, but the Beekmantown penalty kill kept Massena pinned in their own zone for the duration, and the Eagles held on for the 4-3 win. Knight made 40 saves in net for Beekmantown, while Massena's Mackenzie Garrow stopped 37 shots. Gallery
