Plattsburgh State's Jordan Caldwell (27) came in on the breakaway and had her shoot just poked to the side to keep the game tied. In the NCAA Semi-Finals, it would be an east vs west showdown as the #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #6 St. Thomas Tommies. It would be a great game between two evenly matched teams that both would have their chances. When it was all said and down though there would just be on game scored in the game as Allison Era would light the lamp with 4:49 left in overtime on the power play to give the Cardinals the 1-0 win. In the winning effort, Sydney Aveson would get another shutout victory as she stopped all 30 shots on the night as the Cardinals advance to the National Championship against the #2 Norwich Cadets. NCAA Quarterfinals #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs #10 Williams Ephs March 15 2014

Plattsburgh State's Sydney Aveson (33) with the blocker save that she sends to the corner as part of a 24 save night. The #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #10 Williams Ephs in the Quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. The Williams Ephs would be looking for the upset as they would score just 1:15 into the first period on Gabrielle Vukasin goal to give the Ephs the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there till there was 1:27 left in the first and Ali Vakos would tie the game up at one. The Cardinals would make some obvious adjustments as Ali Vakos would score just 28 seconds into the second for her second of the night and give the Cardinals the 2-1 lead. Then at the 12:11 mark of the second period, Ali Vakos would finish off the natural hat trick and give the Cardinals the 3-1 lead. Then just 31 seconds into the third period Ali Vakos would strike again and have a texas hat trick for the 4-1 lead and from there the Cardinals would hold on for the win. In the winning effort, Sydney Aveson would make 24 saves on the night and the Cardinals head to the final four next weekend where they will take on St. Thomas. Gallery

Plattsburgh Flag Football League: Adirondack J's Vs Pink Panthers March 15 2014

Adirondack J's Austin Velie and Chris Fish would team up to break up the pass intended for Matt St. Clair. It would be week five of the second session of the Indoor Flag Football League as the Adirondack J's would play the Pink Panthers. The tempers would definitely show up during the game as the Adirondack J's would have a 38-16 lead after the first half. In the second half the Pink Panthers would do there best to get back in the battle and win the half 29-22. The deficit would just too much to overcome as the Adirondack J's would get the 60-45 win. CJ Tunes and Photography's Darren Lamere would pull the flag on Kneucraft's Justin Charland to stop the touchdown. It would be week 5 of the indoor flag football season and you would have a battle of the unbeaten teams as Kneucraft would meet up with CJ Tunes & Photography. The CJ Tunes & Photography would get off to the good start and have the low scoring 12-8 lead at the break. When the second came around the Kneucraft team would start there comeback and win the quarter 19-7 and get the 27-19 win. Gallery

ECAC West Championship #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs #2 Elimra Soaring Eagles March 9th 2014

Plattsburgh State's Bridget Bailsy (21) hauled down from behind and crashes into the net as she goes for goal. The #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #2 Elmira Soaring Eagles in the Championships of the ECAC-West Conference. The Cardinals would take the 1-0 lead at 9:04 of the first on Giovanna Sense's goal. The Soaring Eagles would come right back and tie the game up at one just 55 seconds later on Ashley Ryan's goal. The Cardinals would take the lead back at 1:35 of the second period on Alyssa Parke's goal to make it 2-1. Although the Soaring Eagles would come back and tie the game up again at 14:35 of the second on the power play on Anna Tude's goal. The Soaring Eagles would take there first lead of the game at 3:41 on Erin Weston's goal to make it 3-2 Soaring Eagles. The Cardinals and Shannon Stewart would come back and tie the game at 3 at 7:03. Then the Cardinals would regain the lead at 4-3 on Tyne Gove's goal at 9:48 and from there on they would hold on for the 4-3 victory. In the winning effort, Sydney Aveson would make seventeen saves as the Cardinals now head to the NCAA Tournament for another run at a national title. Gallery

NYSPHSAA Girl's Basketball Class C 1st Round #12 Saranac Chiefs Vs #4 Taramac Bengals March 8 2014

Saranac's Kaitlyn Bowman (30) cuts in front of the defender and fires up the scope shot for the basket. The #12 Saranac Chiefs would play the #4 Tarmac Bengals at the Plattsburgh State Field House in the Quarterfinals of the New York State Class B Tournament. After the first quarter, the Chiefs would have slim 17-16 lead. In the second quarter, the Bengals would heat up some and win the quarter 17-11 and take the 33-28 lead at the intermission. When the teams came back for the third the chess match would be on as they tied for the quarter at 11 giving the Bengals 44-39 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Chiefs couldn't overcome the Bengals as they Bengals win the quarter 17-13 and win the game 61-52. With the lose the Chiefs season comes to an end at 15-4. Gallery

Plattsburgh's Russell Serrano with the off-balance layup along the baseline. (15) The Plattsburgh Hornets would play the #2 Ogdensburg Blue Devils at the Plattsburgh State Field House in the quarterfinals. The game would start out close as the Blue Devils would have a 27-22 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter the Blue Devils would start to pull away as they had a 31-8 quarter and took the 58-30 lead at the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter it would be more of the same the Blue Devils win the quarter 25-8 and take an 83-38 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter the Blue Devils would call off the attack and the Hornets would win the quarter 11-9. Although it would not nearly be enough as the Blue Devils get the 92-49 win. With the lose the Hornets season comes to an end at 15-5. Gallery

ECAC West Semi-Finals: #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs #4 Utica Pioneers March 8 2014

Plattsburgh State's Bridget Bailsey (21) taps in the rebound into the wide-open net to give the Cardinals the 2-0 lead. The #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #4 Utica Pioneers in the ECAC-West Semi-finals at Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. The game would remain scoreless until the 11:09 mark of the first when Alyssa Parke would light the lamp on the power-play to make it 1-0 Cardinals. The Cardinals would extend there lead to 2-0 just over two minutes later on Bridget Bailsey's goal. Then with just 21 seconds left in the first the Cardinals would make it 3-0 on Shannon Stewarts goal. The game would stay there till 1:50 of the third period when Morgan MacInnis would score to make it 4-0 Cardinals. The Cardinals would extend there lead to 5-0 on Tyne Grove's goal at 6:03. The Cardinals would put the final touches on it just over a minute later on Jordan Caldwell's goal to make it 6-0. The Pioneers would avoid the shutout with just under three minutes left on Mackenzie Roy's goal. As the Cardinals get the 6-1 victory and advance to the ECAC-West Championship and take on #2 Elmira with the title on the line. Gallery

NYSPHSAA Girl's Basketball Class D 1st Round: #7 Moriah Vikings Vs #6 Fort Edwards Forts March 5 2014

Moriah's Madison Stahl (12) with the off balance shot underneath the rim. The #7 Moriah Vikings would play the #6 Fort Edwards Forts in the first round of the New York State Class D Tournament. The Vikings would come out and the start of good and have a 12-8 lead after the first. In the second quarters the Forts defense would step up and win the quarter 15-10 and the Forts would have a 23-22 lead at the half. When the teams came back for the third the Forts would build on the lead and win the quarter 18-15 and take a 41-37 into the fourth. In the fourth the Forts would put the finishing touches on the game with a 12-8 quarter to give them the 53-45 victory. With the loss, the Vikings season comes to an end at 19-1. Gallery

NYSPHSAA Class D First Round #5 Moriah Vikings Vs #2 Argyle Scots March 5 2014

Moriah's Taylor Slattery (10) takes it down the lane and goes up for the uncontested layup. The #5 Moriah Vikings would play the #2 Argyle Scots at the Plattsburgh State Field house in the first round of the New York State Class D Basketball Tournament. The Vikings would jump out quickly and have a 14-4 lead after the 1st quarter. The second quarter would be more of the same the Vikings win the quarter 14-9 and have a 28-13 lead at halftime. When the teams came back for the second half the Scots would regroup although the third would be a tie at ten giving the Vikings the 38-23 lead into the fourth. In the fourth Scots would do there best to cut into the Vikings lead but a 15-10 quarter would not be enough as the Vikings get the 58-48 win. With the win, the Vikings go to 20-2 and head to the quarterfinals Saturday against Madrid-Waddington at SUNY Canton. Gallery
