The Huskies would have a quick answer in the second period, just 1:43 in on the Jonathan Scaef marker to make it a one-goal game at 2-1. The Eagles would have an answer, though, at the 12:32 mark of the period when Jackson Deyo would strike for his second goal of the game and regain the two-goal lead at 3-1, and that's how the period would end. In the third period, both teams would have their chances, but it would take until the 15:57 mark for Jake Kaska to score on the extra attacker, tying the game at 3-3 down the stretch. The Huskies would have their chances in the last minute to tie the game, but they couldn't find the back of the net to tie the game, and the Eagles would hold on for the 3-2 win. It would be a matchup between the top 2 teams in Section VII Boy's Hockey as the #1 Beekmantown Eagles and the #2 Plattsburgh Hornets from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena in front over 1,100 fans the bigest attendances for the chamionship in years with the winner getting a berth in the New York State Division 2 State tournament and the winner getting the #5 Malone Huskies back here on Saturday March 7th. The Beekmantown Eagles would be opening the goal of the game at the 9:11 mark of the first period from the quicker wrister off the stick of Mason Carter, with Jacobey Weeden and Jackson Deyo picking up the assist on the lone goal of the period to end the first 1-0 Eagles. The Hornets would come out buzzing in the second period and get the equalizer at the 1:41 mark of the second period when Westen Studley would light the lamp with help from Jacob Wheelin and Colby Chase. The Eagles would have an answer, though, at the 5:20 mark of the period when Edward Sweenor would beat Owen Chapple glove side to retake the 2-1 lead with thanks to Braeden Nephew and Evan Bruyette, and that's where the scoring would stop for the second period. The Eagles would extend their lead to 3-1 at the 8:36 mark of the third period when Mason Carter would get his second of the night with help from Pryce Parker and Jack Rovers to give them the big two-goal lead. The Hornets would answer back quickly, though, just 25 seconds later, when Alex Hanshaw would beat Jack Bell to make it a 3-2 game down the stretch. The defense for the Eagles would stand strong down the stretch, hold off the Hornets' swarm, and secure the 3-2 win for the championship. It would be the semi-finals of the Section VII Division II Boys' Hockey playoffs at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena, and it would see a rematch of last year's finals as the #1 Beekmantown Eagles would host the #4 Saranac Spartans. The Eagles would waste little time jumping out to a lead, scoring two goals in the first 3:35 of the game from Edward Sweenor and Mason Carter, taking a 2-0 lead. The Spartans would get on the board at the 13:18 mark of the period on Gabe Moore's goal, and that's how the period would end, 2-1. The Eagles would be able to extend their lead to 3-1 at the 8:08 mark of the period on the Ivan Roy goal, and that would be the lone goal of the period at 3-1 Eagles as they enter the third. The Eagles would strike for three goals in the first 1:49 of the period from Mason Carter (second of the night), Pryce Parker, and Edward Sweenor (second of the night). It would take until the 15:28 mark of the first period for the first goal of the game, when Eli McCormick would light the lamp for the Lakers and take a 1-0 lead, and that's where the first period would end. In the second period, the Lakers would extend their lead to 2-0 at 6:50 when Ayden McCormick would get the goal. The Hornets would answer right back 38 seconds later when Sam Bezio would get the Hornets on the board and make it a 2-1 game. The Hornets would not be done there, as they would tie the game at two on Cooper Holland's goal. The Lakers would come back and retake the lead about two minutes later at the 10:32 mark of the period on Eli McCormick's second goal of the game. The Hornets would tie the game again with 4:32 left in the period when Sam Bezio would get the second goal of the game, and the second period would end tied at two. The Hornets would get their first lead of the game at the 9:05 mark of the third period when Cooper Holland would get his second of the game, and from there the Hornets' defense would be up to the challenge as they secured the 4-3 victory. It would be the opening game of the 2026 Section VII Division 2 Boys' Hockey tournament, and it would feature the #4 Saranac Spartans hosting the #5 Northeastern Clinton Cougars from the AC North Arena, with the winner playing the #1 Beekmantown Eagles in the semi-finals two days later. The Spartans would get the first two goals of the game, 15 seconds apart at the 9:20 mark of the first period, when Noah Barton and Robbie Squier would score for the 2-0 lead. The Cougars would answer back at the 11:22 mark of the period and cut the deficit to 1 on the Scott Wrye goal to make it 2-1. The game would stay there until the 12:34 mark of the second period, when Killian Baker would score to make it a 3-1 game and regain their two-goal advantage.
