PLATTSBURGH — The AuSable Valley Patriots built a two-goal first-half lead, then survived a late Plattsburgh comeback attempt to earn a 2-1 win over the Hornets in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls soccer action on October 8. The Patriots entered the contest with a 5-6-1 record and quickly took control. AuSable Valley pressured the defense throughout the first half and converted twice, taking a 2-0 lead into intermission. Plattsburgh, which came into the match with a 1-8 record, showed more energy after halftime and began creating opportunities in the attacking third. The Hornets kept pushing as the second half progressed, looking for a breakthrough goal to spark a comeback. That moment came in the 74th minute when Charlotte Boule found the back of the net for Plattsburgh, cutting the deficit to 2-1 and giving the home crowd hope. The goal shifted momentum toward the Hornets, who pressed for the equalizer during the final minutes of regulation. Despite the late pressure, the Patriots' defense held firm and protected the one-goal advantage through the final whistle to secure the road victory. With the win, AuSable Valley improves its position heading into its next matchup against Chateaugay. Plattsburgh will look to bounce back when it returns to action on October 14 against Saranac. (October 8, 2026) — The No. 7 ranked Chazy Eagles continued to prove why they are among New York State's elite girls soccer programs, rolling to a 10-0 victory over the Seton Catholic Knights in New York State Public High School Athletic Association Section VII action Thursday afternoon at Seton Catholic. Entering the match with a 13-1 record and a No. 7 state ranking, the Eagles wasted little time asserting themselves. Sophia Lynch opened the scoring in the seventh minute, and Olivia Bernard found the back of the net just one minute later to give Chazy an early 2-0 lead. The Eagles' offensive attack continued to click as Marin Juneau scored in the 13th minute. Chazy maintained steady pressure through the first half, and Gwynn Compeau added a goal in the 35th minute. The Eagles added another tally before halftime, taking a commanding 5-0 lead into the break. Juneau took over early in the second half, scoring in the 41st and 43rd minutes to complete her hat trick. Peyton Turek joined the scoring in the 46th minute as the Eagles continued to dominate possession and create scoring opportunities. Chazy added two more late goals to cap off the afternoon and secure the 10-0 win. Juneau's three-goal performance led a balanced Eagles attack that showcased the depth and talent of one of the state's top-ranked teams. PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — The North Country Community College Saints earned a 3-1 victory over the Clinton Community College Cougars in an NJCAA Division III Region III men's soccer matchup Wednesday evening at the SUNY Plattsburgh Field House. The Saints (3-7) struck first in the 25th minute when Lyrik Eckersley put the ball in the back of the net to give North Country a 1-0 lead. Just three minutes later, John Phillips doubled the lead in the 28th minute to put the Saints up 2-0. The Cougars (2-9) responded before halftime as Henry Gibson netted a goal in the 39th minute, cutting the deficit to 2-1 and giving Clinton hope heading into the break. After a competitive second half, North Country regained its two-goal cushion in the 83rd minute when Ciya La Cognatta scored to seal the 3-1 win. North Country held an 18-10 shot advantage and created several quality scoring chances throughout the contest. Clinton goalkeeper Jordan Hawkins played well despite the loss, making 15 saves to keep the Cougars within striking distance. Saints goalkeeper Jimmy McPherson recorded nine saves in the winning effort. The Cougars finished the match with ten players after receiving a late red card. With the win, North Country improves to43-7 on the season while Clinton falls to 2-10. PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — The Plattsburgh State Cardinals continued their strong season with a 4-0 win over the SUNY Delhi Broncos in a SUNYAC women's soccer matchup Wednesday afternoon before 200 fans. The contest marked the first-ever meeting between the two programs, with Plattsburgh State entering the day at 4-2-4 and SUNY Delhi carrying a 3-5-2 record. The Cardinals opened the scoring in the 26th minute when Sydney Myers found the back of the net for her fifth goal of the season, giving the home side a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. Plattsburgh State seized control early in the second half. Alexis Patrick recorded her first goal of the season in the 49th minute to double the Cardinals' advantage. Just three minutes later, Myers struck again, scoring her second goal of the match and sixth of the season to extend the lead to 3-0. The Cardinals kept the pressure on and added an insurance marker in the 72nd minute when Ellie Graney scored her first goal of the season. With a balanced offense and strong defense, Plattsburgh State secured the 4-0 shutout. PLATTSBURGH — The Saranac Lake Red Storm continued their strong play Monday night, earning a straight-set victory over the Plattsburgh Hornets in a NYSPHSAA Section VII girls volleyball matchup. Entering the contest with a 5-2 record, Saranac Lake faced a 6-2 Plattsburgh team. The Red Storm rose to the challenge, posting 25-23, 25-21, and 25-18 wins to complete the sweep. The opening set was a tightly contested battle, with both teams trading points throughout. Neither side built a significant lead before Saranac Lake pulled out a 25-23 win to take an early advantage. Plattsburgh continued to battle in the second set and remained within reach late. The Red Storm, however, delivered the decisive stretch, closing on an 8-1 run to secure a 25-21 victory and move within one set of the win. Looking to extend the match, the Hornets fought hard in the third set, but Saranac Lake once again finished strong. The Red Storm ended the set on a 7-2 run, claiming a 25-18 victory and completing the straight-sets sweep. The victory gives Saranac Lake momentum heading into a rivalry showdown at home Tuesday against Saranac in the annual "Battle of the Saranacs." PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — The Ticonderoga Sentinels continued their strong season on Tuesday afternoon, traveling to Plattsburgh for a NYSPHSAA Section VII girls soccer matchup against the Seton Catholic Knights. Ticonderoga wasted little time asserting control, scoring three goals within the opening six minutes on its way to a dominant 10-0 victory. The Sentinels, who entered the contest with a 6-4 record, came out firing from the opening whistle. Their early offensive surge put the Knights on their heels as Ticonderoga quickly built a 3-0 advantage before the game was even six minutes old. After the fast start, the Sentinels maintained possession and kept pressure on the Seton Catholic defense throughout the first half. Ticonderoga added a fourth goal in the 21st minute, extending its lead to 4-0. The visitors continued to control play for the remainder of the half and carried the four-goal advantage into intermission. The second half brought more of the same from the Sentinels. Just five minutes after the restart, Ticonderoga found the back of the net again in the 45th minute to make it 5-0. The offensive floodgates remained open as the Sentinels kept their momentum rolling, scoring five more goals over the final 22 minutes of play. By the final whistle, Ticonderoga had reached double digits on the scoreboard and secured an emphatic 10-0 victory. With the win, the Sentinels improve to 7-4 on the season and will look to carry their momentum into their next contest when they host the Chazy Eagles on Wednesday. Seton Catholic falls to 0-8 on the year following the loss. The Knights will have little time to dwell on the defeat as they return to action Wednesday with a road matchup against the Saranac Lake Red Storm. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals opened the home portion of their SUNYAC schedule Saturday afternoon in front of 175 fans, battling the nationally ranked No. 23 Oneonta State Red Dragons to a thrilling 2-2 draw. Coming into the match with a 4-3-2 record, the Cardinals faced a difficult challenge against the undefeated Red Dragons, who entered the contest at 7-0-1. Plattsburgh answered the challenge early, taking the lead in the 16th minute when Michael Rodriguez scored his second goal of the season. Rodriguez's strike gave the Cardinals a 1-0 advantage and energized the home crowd. The Cardinals held the lead for much of the first half before Oneonta found the equalizer late in the period. Milton Macias Magana netted his first goal of the season to pull the Red Dragons even at 1-1. The score remained tied through the remainder of the half as the teams headed into intermission deadlocked. Oneonta came out of the break with renewed energy and grabbed its first lead of the afternoon in the 58th minute when Drew Lennon scored his first goal of the season, putting the Red Dragons ahead 2-1. The equalizer shifted momentum back to the Cardinals and set up an exciting final half hour. Neither team was able to find the game-winning goal despite several quality opportunities over the closing stages of the match. Both defenses stood strong as the contest finished in a 2-2 draw. With the result, Plattsburgh moves to 4-3-3 overall on the season. Goalkeeper Matthew D'Ippolito turned in a strong performance, recording seven saves. The Cardinals will return to action on Wednesday when they host the SUNY Delhi Broncos. Oneonta remains unbeaten and improves to 7-0-2. Goalkeeper James Cintron made one save for the Red Dragons. Oneonta will also be back in action Wednesday when it travels back to the North Country to face the Potsdam State Bears. PLATTSBURGH — The undefeated Ogdensburg Blue Devils continued their impressive season Saturday afternoon, scoring two second-half goals to earn a 2-0 non-sectional boys soccer victory over the Plattsburgh Hornets. The contest was tight through the first half, as both teams generated scoring chances but couldn't break through. Strong defensive play on both sides kept the match scoreless heading into halftime. Ogdensburg finally broke through in the 48th minute when Chase Rider scored the game's first goal, giving the Blue Devils a 1-0 lead. The visitors added some insurance in the 62nd minute when Ethan Thomas found the back of the net to extend the lead to 2-0. From there, the Blue Devils tightened up defensively and prevented any Plattsburgh comeback attempt, preserving the shutout victory. With the win, Ogdensburg improves to 10-0-1. The Blue Devils will return to Section X play on Wednesday evening when they host the Massena Red Raiders. Plattsburgh falls to 3-5 overall. PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Hornets showed resilience under pressure Thursday evening, overcoming a determined Saranac Spartans comeback to earn a dramatic five-set victory in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference volleyball action. Entering the match with a 6-2 record, the Hornets appeared in complete control early. Plattsburgh dominated the opening set 25-15, using consistent offense and strong net play to keep the Spartans out of rhythm. The Hornets carried that momentum into the second set. Saranac stayed within striking distance for much of the frame, but Plattsburgh surged late, closing on an 8-4 run to secure a 25-18 victory and a commanding two-set lead. With their backs against the wall, the Spartans responded impressively. Trailing 19-17 in the third set, Saranac put together an explosive 8-0 run to seize control.
