Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Week 6: #3 Moriah Vikings @ #12 Peru Nighthawks October 14th 2022

Moriah's Bode Valentine (33) takes it around the edge and beats Peru's Zack O'Conell (5) to the edge for the first down. It would be the game of the season in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as it would be a pair of unbeaten as the #12 Peru Nighthawks would host the #3 Moriah Vikings with the winner being crowned the regular season champion. The game would start off good for the home Nighthawks as they would break the game open in the first quarter on a 53 yard run by Jack Hanson for the 7-0 lead. In the second quarter the Nighthawks would extend there lead to 14-0 on Jack Hanson second touchdown of the game this time from 6 yard out and thats where the first half would end. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Nighthawks would strike again at the 6:12 mark on Jack Hanson third score of the game this time from 22 yards away and take the 21-0 lead. With that the defense would shut the Vikings down the rest of the game and get the 21-0 win and stay undefeated at 7-0 while the Vikings fall to 6-1 on the season. It would be the game of the season in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as it would be a pair of unbeatens as the #12 Peru Nighthawks would host the #3 Moriah Vikings with the winner being crowned the regular season champion. The game would start off good for the home Nighthawks as they would break the game open in the first quarter on a 53 yard run by Jack Hanson for the 7-0 lead. In the second quarter the Nighthawks would extend there lead to 14-0 on Jack Hanson second touchdown of the game this time from 6 yard out and thats where the first half would end. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Nighthawks would strike again at the 6:12 mark on Jack Hanson third score of the game this time from 22 yards away and take the 21-0 lead. With that the defense would shut the Vikings down the rest of the game and get the 21-0 win and stay undefeated at 7-0 while the Vikings fall to 6-1 on the season. Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Week 4 Moriah Vikings @ Plattsburgh Hornets

Moriah's Riley Demarais (8) runs straight ahead and run's over Plattsburgh's Riguelson Filosca (5) as he goes in for the score. It would be week 4 of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference and the Moriah Vikings would travel up to Plattsburgh and take on the Hornets. The Vikings would show way they are the number 3 in the state as they would get the first score of the game at the 5:41 mark of the first quarter on a 9 yard run by Riley Demarais for the 6-0 lead. Then at the 8:13 mark of the first quarter the Vikings would extend there lead to 14-0 on a 44 yard run by Brady Olcott. In the second quarter the Vikings would break the game wide open with three scores on Riley Demarais second score of the game on a 4 yard run, Boden Valentine 2 yard run and a 28 yard fumble recovery by Rowan Swan and take a 36-0 lead into the intermission. When the teams came back for the second half you could tell the Vikings had turned down the wick as they would get a lone score from Keegan Callahan. While the Hornets would get on the board late in the game on a run by Trenton Griffiths. With the Vikings would secure the 43-6 win and stay undefeated at 4-0 while the Hornets fall to 0-5 on the season. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Week 4: Peru Nighthawks @ Plattsburgh Hornets

Peru's Jack Hanson (33) with the stiff arm on the Hornets tackler and takes him to the turf and takes it to the endzone for the score as part of a three rouchdown night. It would be the fourth week of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season and we will see crosstown rivals as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Peru Nighthawks for the bragging rights. The Nighthawks would get the game going just 5:20 in on a 8 yard run by Jack Hanson for the 7-0 lead. On the first offensive play for the Hornets the defense for the Nighthawks would strike with a pick sick by Rocky Hebert and take the quick 14-0 lead. Then two finish off the two minute scoring outburst for the Nighthawks Landon Duprey would score from 25 yards out for a 20-0 lead and that's of the first quarter would come to an end. In the second quarter the Nighthawks would strike for a pair of touchdowns coming from Jack Hanson and Landon Duprey both getting there second score of the game and take a 34-0 lead into the halftime break. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Nighthawks would keep there foot on the gas as they would get a couple more scores again from Hanson and Duprey giving them both three on the game and 48-0 lead. Although in the final minute of the quarter the Hornets would find a spark and break out a 50 yard run and score from Gavin Labounty and breakup the shutout and make it a 48-6 game. In the fourth quarter the Nighthawks would get one more on a seven yard run by Keith Parent and secure the 55-6 victory. In the winning effort the Nighthawks head to 4-0 on the season as they head into there meeting with the Saranac Chiefs. #2 Ausable Valley Patriots Vs #1 Moriah Vikings Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball Class C Championship March 4th 2022

Moriah's Bryce Sprague (33) splits the defender and takes flight for the layup and score. It would be the first Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball championship of the weekend as the #1 Moriah Vikings would face off with the #2 Ausable Valley Patriots for the class c championship and punch their ticket to the NYSPHSAA Tournament. The game would not start off good for the defending championing Moriah Vikings as they would start the game off down 11-2 but would start to come back as they would finish the quarter 8-6 and trail 17-10 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, they would get the hot a hand going on a 15-10 quarter and trail by a slim 27-25 at the intermission. In the third quarter, they would take the lead on the strength of some good defense with 12-9 quarter and take the small 37-36 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Vikings offense would continue to stay hot and would finish off the Patriots with an 18-13 quarter and secure the 55-49 victory. In the winning effort, the Moriah Vikings advance to the NYSPHSAA Class C Tournament and will take on #`16 Madrid Waddington from Section X On March 9th at SUNY Canton as the Ausable Valley Patriots season comes to an end at 15-5. #1 Moriah Vikings Vs #2 Ausable Valley Patriots November 6th 2021
The Moriah Vikings pose for their team photo as they are crowned the 2021 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference D champions. It would be the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class D Football championships and it would be another appearance by the #1 Moriah Vikings expect this time they would be taking on the #2 Ausable Valley Patriots for the right to head to the state playoffs and the road to the carrier dome. The upset-minded Patriots would get the opening score of the game on a 12 yard run by Ethan Snow and would take the 7-0 lead with three minutes left in the first quarter. Although the lead would be short-lived as the Moriah Vikings and Bryce Spraque would run back the ensuing kickoff 83 yards for the score with 1:48 left in the quarter although the two-point conversion would fail and the Patriots would have the slim 7-6 lead. The Vikings would officially take the 12-7 lead as Bryce Spraque would strike again although this time through the air on a 15-yard pass at the 5:16 mark of the second quarter and would stay that way for the first half. The Vikings would expand their lead to 20-7 on a 35-yard keeper by Rowan Swan and would also get the two-point conversion. The Patriots would answer right back on their next drive with Ethan Snow's second rushing touchdown of the day to make it a 20-13 game. That is where the game would end up with the Vikings being crowned the 2021 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class D Champions although the Patriots wouldn't go down without swinging to get the tying score. With the win, the Vikings enter the NYSPHSAA Class D Tournament at a perfect 8-0 and wait for the winner from the capital district in a couple of weeks while the Ausable Valley Patriots season comes to end at 5-3. It would be the final week of the regular season and the conference title would be up for grabs between a pair of unbeaten as the Peru Nighthawks would host the Moriah Vikings. With the regular-season crown on the line, the game would start out very tight as the Vikings would get the opening score of the game in the final minute of first on a 49 yard run by Blake Swan and take the 6-0 lead. The Nighthawks would answer right back 30 seconds into the 2nd on a 33 yard run by Jack Hanson and take the 7-6 lead. Although the Vikings would answer back on the following drive on the 29 yards run by Riley Demarais at the 5:11 mark and regain the lead at 12-7. Then at the 8:14 mark of the second quarter, the Vikings would extend their lead to 20-7 on a 7 yard run by Blake Swan. Although the Nighthawks would get back into it by cutting the difference in half on Jack Hanson's second score of the game with two minutes left in the half at 20-14. Although the Vikings would answer right back and make it a two-score again in the final minute of the half on Blake Swan's third score of the game and take the 28-14 lead into the locker room. When the teams would return for the second half Vikings would look to take control of the game as they strike in the first minute on a 31-yard pass to Bryce Spraque and take the 34-14 lead. The Nighthawks would have a small answer at the 3;25 mark when Keegan Smith would hit a 36-yard field goal to make it 34-17. The passing attack would have another answer by the Vikings as they would find Bryce Spraque again this time for 49 yards and take a 40-17 advantage. The Nighthawks would get it within two scores at 40-24 with 1:27 left in the third on an 18 yard run by Sawyer Schlit. Although the Vikings would answer back on their next offensive play on a 53-yard run to take the three-score lead back at 46-24. In the fourth quarter, the Nighthawks would get an alone score on Sawyer Schlitt's second score of the game although it wouldn't be enough as the Vikings win 46-31. In the winning effort, the Vikings finish the regular season at 7-0 and are crowned champions, and now what the winner Ticonderoga and Ausable Valley for the Section D Championship next weekend. While the 5-2 Nighthawks know they are facing the Plattsburgh Hornets next weekend for the Section VII Class B title.
