#2 Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs Endicott Gulls - March 6th 2019
The celebration is on as the Cardinals win in overtime. The #2 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Endicott Gulls in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The game would start of good for the Gulls as they would score 4:37 into the first period for the 1-0 lead. The Gulls would strike again just under five minutes left to have the surprising 2-0 lead. Although the Cardinals would come out of the locker room fired up and Courtney Moriarty would score four minutes into the period to cut the deficit in half at 2-1. The game would remain there until there was 8:19 left in the game when Annie Katonka would score on a scramble play in front of the net for a 2-2. The Cardinals would fight for the remainder of the period with no success. The game would head to overtime although we would not be there very long as the Annie Katonka would send the home fans home happy 45 seconds in for the 3-2 win. #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs #3 Cortland State Red Dragons - March 2nd 2019
The Plattsburgh State Cardinals pose for there team photo as they are crowned the 2019 Northeast Womens Hockey League champion for the second year in a row. The #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #3 Cortland State Red Dragons in the 2019 N.E.W.H.L. Championship. The Cardinals would take the early 1-0 lead four minutes into the first period from Erin McArdle. The Cardinals would extend the lead to 2-0 in the last few seconds of the first period on the Hanna Rose goal. In the second period Courtney Moriarty would get the goal at 6:34 for the 3-0 in the second period. Then three minutes later Annie Katonka would score to make it 4-0 Cardinals. Then in the final minute of the period Taylor Whitney would score for the 5-0 lead. That would end the scoring as there was nothing in the third period and the Cardinals would get the 5-0 victory to claim the 2019 NEWHL Chanpionship. #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs #4 Oswego State Lakers - February 23rd 2019
Plattsburgh State's Mackenize Millen (11) with the goal on the rebound at the doorstep. The top seeded Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the 4 seeded Oswego State Lakers in the semi-finals of the NEWHL Hockey Tournament at the Field House in front of 500 people. The Cardinals would get the lone goal of the first period on the power play from Nicole Unsworth for the 1-0 lead after one. In the second period the Cardinals would get three goals in the period from Kaitlin Drew-Mead, Madison Walker and Mackenize Millen for the 4-1 lead after the second period. The Cardinals would strike again in the third period for three more goals from Courtney Moriarity, Annie Katonka, and Nicole Unsworth (second of the night) to secure the 7-1 victory. In the winning effort Kassi Abbott would make 17 saves as the Cardinals advance to the championship game of the NEWHL against either Potsdam State or Cortland State next weekend. Gallery.
#3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs #10 Middlebury Panthers - February 19th 2019
Plattsburgh State's Abby Brush (24) comes in on the breakaway and sends the shot over the shoulder of the goalie for the score. It would be a bad between top ten teams in nation as the #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals and the #10 Middlebury Panthers in front of 500 fans. The game would remain scoreless until the 1:33 mark of the second period when the Cardinals would take the 1-0 lead on Kaitlin Drew-Mead goal. The Cardinals would expand there lead to 2-0 on Abby Brush's breakaway goal at the 6:43 mark of the third period. The Panthers although would cut the lead in half with under five minutes to go to make the reminder intense. Although the Cardinals would put the game away in the last minute on a empty netter from Annie Katonka to secure the 3-1 victory. Plattsburgh State's Nicole Unsworth (20) with the quick wrister over the goalies shoulder for the goal. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would meet up with the Oswego State Lakers in NEWHL action. The Cardinals would get the opening goal of the game from Ashley Songin at 13:47 of the first period. The Cardinals would extend the lead to 2-0 at 3:05 of the second period on Nicole Unsworth. Then just under a minute later the Cardinals would go up 3-0 Abby Brush goal. The Cardinals would end there scoring at 14:17 of the second period on the Kaitlin Mead-Drew goal and secure the 4-0 victory. Plattsburgh State's Nicole Unsworth (20) sweeps the puck around the Buffalo State goalie for the first period goal. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would meet up with the Buffalo State Bengals to finish of a weekend doubleheader in the NEWHL in front of 345 fans. The Cardinals wouldn't waste anytime as they would get three goals in the first period from Ashley Songin, Annie Katonka and Nicole Unsworth for the 3-0 lead. In the second period the Cardinals would strike for two more coming from Mackenzie Millen and Annie Katonka to make it a 5-0 Cardinals lead. The Cardinals would add one more in the third period from Moe Tsukimoto to secure the 6-0 victory.
