Saranac's Henry Napier (14) slices through the defense and lays it off the window for the score. It would be the last game of the opening day of the Section VII Championship weekend as the #1 Saranac Spartans would meet up with the #2 Saranac Lake Red Storm for the Boys' Basketball Class C Championship. It would be a tight, high-scoringgame to get it started as the Red Storm would have ta19-17 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the game would stay close, but the Red Storm would extend their lead by 1 with a 13-12 quarter and take the 32-29 lead at intermission. When the teams returned for the second quarte,r the Spartans would bringtheire offense with a 22-13 quarter and take the 51-45 lead into the fourth quarter/ Although in the fourth quarte,r the Red Storm would battle back witha 23-17 quarter and force overtime as they would be tied at 68 In the overtime the Red Storm would take control with a 10-5 quarter and secure the 78-73 victory, In the winning effort for the Red Storm Alius Martele would lead the way as they earn there spot in the New York State Class B Tournament as for the Saranac Spartans Carson Duffield would lead the way with 27 points as there season would come to end. Clinton Community College Holiday Classic Boy's Basketball: Malone Huskies Vs Saranac Spartans January 3rd 2026

Saranac's Carson Duffield (40) goes up strong for the score over Malobne's Cameron Keating (11) as they battle for the lead. It would be the last game of the two-day Clinton Community College Holiday Classic, featuring the Saranac Spartans from Section VII and the Malone Huskies of Section X, which could be the best game of the tournament, as both teams were coming off impressive wins on Tuesday. The game would go back and forth for the whole first half as the Huskies would hit a buzzer beater and send the game into the intermission at 32-31 Spartans When the teams return for the second half it would be more of the same out of the start but the Huskies would pull late with a 34-23 half and secure the 66-55 victory. In the winning effort, the Huskies would win the tournament and stay undefeated on the season. As for the Spartans, they would come up short and finish 500 on the season. Gallery
