Brogan Roberts (50x) and Gary English )53) battle for the win in the RainPro of Vermont Limited Sportsman Modified victory as Brogan would get the win for the Roberts sweep on the night. PLATTSBURGH — After three consecutive weeks lost to weather, Airborne Park Speedway roared back to life on Thursday, July 2, with a packed feature‑only program highlighted by the Firecracker 44 for the Sportsman Modifieds. With extreme heat pushing the start time to 8 p.m., six divisions took the track and delivered a full night of action as several championship battles tightened heading into mid‑summer. Thirteen Mini Stocks opened the evening with the first of two 20‑lap features. The race quickly settled into a three‑car fight among Nick Harnden, Haiden Bordeaux, and Randy Martin. Harnden controlled the pace throughout and secured his first win of the season, moving into ninth in the standings as he begins to chase down points leader Jake Fountain. The RainPro of Vermont Limited Sportsman Modifieds followed with 13 cars answering the call for their 25‑lap feature. Josh Patterson paced the early laps while Cody Gregoopoulos kept him in range, but the charge came from the fourth row as Brogan Roberts and Gary English worked forward. The pair eventually overtook Patterson and staged a tight late‑race duel, with Roberts claiming his first Airborne win of the season. The victory trims English’s points lead to nine. Ten Renegades rolled out next for their 25‑lap feature. Billy Thwaits and Nathaniel Guay battled early before Thwaits steadily pulled away, earning his third win of the season. Guay and Shawn Duquette completed the top three. Thwaits continues to close in on Duquette’s championship lead, now down to 22 points. The night’s main event, the Firecracker 44 for the Sportsman Modifieds, saw Jamy Begor jump to the early lead and fend off challenges from Lonnie Rivers and Jason McClatchie. As the laps wound down, Evan Roberts mounted a charge, taking the lead with seven laps remaining and driving off to claim the $2,000 victory. Begor finished second with McClatchie third. Points leader Nick Heywood finished fifth, and Roberts’ win cuts Heywood’s advantage to 21 points. Thirteen Crown Vics took the green for their 20‑lap feature, with Josh Muir leading early before Richie Turner and Trevor Jaques reeled him in. Turner crossed the line first, but a post‑race rules infraction handed the win to Jaques, who now moves into the points lead by 20 over Scott Richner after three races. The second Mini Stock feature produced another three‑car thriller featuring Speedy Bressette, Jamie Whitney Jr., and Kenny Tourville. Bressette made a dramatic last‑lap pass to earn his second win of the season, moving him up to sixth in the standings. The night concluded with the 50‑lap Enduro, where 22 cars took the track. Nick Cain led early over Nathan Mitchell, but Michael Wright stormed from the rear, took command, and dominated the race by lapping most of the field en route to the first Enduro victory of the season. Airborne Park Speedway returns Thursday, July 9, with a full makeup program featuring all five weekly divisions as the track continues to work through its early‑season rainouts. Gallery

Battle at Plattsburgh @ Airborne Park Speedway June 11th 2026
Mike Mahaney (35) and Felix Roy (91) battle for the lead in the closing laps of the 75-lap $ 5,000-to-win 358 Modified event. PLATTSBURGH — Airborne Park Speedway staged one of its most anticipated programs of the season Saturday night as the DIRTcar 358 Modified Series and DIRTcar Sportsman East Series headlined the annual Battle of Plattsburgh. A strong crowd filled the grandstands for a five‑division card that blended touring‑series intensity with local‑division championship implications. Only the 358 Modifieds and Sportsman Modifieds ran heat races, with all other divisions going directly to their feature events. The RainPro of Vermont Limited Sportsman Modifieds opened the evening with a 15‑car field. A multi‑car incident on the opening lap eliminated several contenders before the race could settle into a rhythm. Adam LaFountain and Josh Patterson controlled the early pace, but the focus shifted as Gary English and Stephen Bushey advanced steadily from deeper in the lineup. English made the decisive move in the second half of the event and maintained a smooth, consistent pace to the finish. The victory allowed him to extend his championship lead to 11 points through six races, while Bushey’s charge underscored the strength of the division’s top runners. Thirteen Renegades took the green flag for their 25‑lap feature. The race quickly became another chapter in the season‑long rivalry between Billy Thwaits and Shawn Duquette, who ran nose‑to‑tail for much of the event. Thwaits held firm in the closing laps, securing his second win of the season and trimming his deficit in the standings to 26 points as the division moves toward the heart of the summer schedule. A field of 31 DIRTcar 358 Modifieds assembled for the 75‑lap, $5,000‑to‑win main event. The first caution appeared on lap 4 when William Racine took a hard ride in turn one, bunching the field for an early restart. Lance Willix and Andrew Buff set the early pace, but the front of the field tightened as Mike Mahaney, Felix Roy, and Matt Williamson moved into contention. Mahaney made the decisive pass on Willix and began to open a gap, while Willix later slipped off the top of the track attempting to regain ground. The closing laps featured a sustained contest between Mahaney and Roy, but Mahaney remained composed through traffic and secured the victory, marking his fourth consecutive win at Airborne Park Speedway. The DIRTcar Sportsman East Series brought 25 cars to the grid for their 30‑lap feature. The race was defined by a sustained battle between front‑row starters Travis Bruno and Michael Wright, who remained closely matched throughout the event. Wright gained the advantage in the final laps and maintained his pace to the finish, earning his second win in three weeks and continuing a strong mid‑season stretch. A 23‑car Mini Stock field closed the evening. Tyler Warren led the opening laps before pressure arrived from Joe Warren and Jeremiah King. Joe Warren took the lead as the race developed into a Warren‑versus‑Warren contest at the front. The late‑race charge came from points leader Jake Fountain, who advanced from 14th to challenge for the win. Fountain closed to within a few car lengths in the final circuits but settled for second behind Joe Warren, with Tyler Warren finishing third. Fountain’s runner‑up finish increased his championship lead to nine points over JP Corrow. Airborne Park Speedway returns to action on June 18 with all five weekly divisions, the first Pro Stock appearance of the season, Midseason Championship Night, and Topless Night for the Sportsman Modifieds. Mike Mahaney (35) celeberates his win in the Dirtcar 358 Modifieds over Adam Pierson and Thomas Cook. Airborne Park Speedway hosted Round Three of the 2026 campaign on Thursday night as the facility celebrated Hometown Heroes Night, recognizing Fire, EMS, and Law Enforcement personnel for their service. A total of 105 competitors signed in across the DIRTcar 358 Modifieds, J+S Steel Sportsman Modifieds, Rain Pro of Vermont Limited Sportsman Modifieds, Renegades, Mini Stocks, and Crown Vics, creating one of the most competitive fields of the season. Gary English applied pressure throughout the early and middle stages, but it was Kobe Hernandez who mounted the strongest late‑race charge, advancing to second and relegating English to third at the checkered flag. The DIRTcar 358 Modifieds took center stage next for their 30‑lap feature. Adam Pierson established himself as the early leader, holding off an initial bid from Thomas Cook. A mid‑race restart brought Mike Mahaney to Pierson’s outside, and Mahaney capitalized immediately—using the high lane through turn one to seize the top spot.
