The 2026 racing season came to a close Sunday night at Airborne Park Speedway as all six weekly divisions and the third Enduro of the season took to the track for Championship Sunday. With track titles still up for grabs in several divisions, fans were treated to an exciting night of racing that included dramatic championship battles, feature victories, and even a nearly two-hour rain delay before the final champions of the season were crowned. The night opened with the 40-lap Hartson Total Opening 358 Modified feature, paying $2,500 to the winner. Seventeen cars rolled onto the speedway for the season finale, and it did not take long for a battle to break out at the front between Tim Fuller and Chris Raabe. Raabe would eventually take control of the lead and never look back on his way to his third victory of the season. While Raabe was focused on the race win, the spotlight in the championship battle was on Felix Roy and Mike Mahaney. Entering the night, Mahaney needed only a fourth-place finish or better to secure his second consecutive track championship. Roy would finish third while Mahaney came home fourth, allowing Mahaney to claim the championship by seven points. Raabe's victory also helped solidify a top-five finish in the final season standings. The Rain Pro of Vermont Limited Sportsman Modifieds were next on the track for their 20-lap feature. Eleven cars took the green flag, but after just two laps, the skies opened up and heavy rain forced a delay that would last nearly two hours. Once racing resumed, Josh Patterson led the field back to green, but Bro Roberts and Gary English quickly made their way to the front. Roberts eventually took command and held off English to score his second victory of the season. English's second-place finish was more than enough to secure his first Limited Sportsman track championship. The JS Steel Sportsman Modifieds followed with their 40-lap, $1,500-to-win feature. Travis Bruno entered the evening with a 34-point advantage over Nick Heywood in the championship standings and officially clinched the title during the event, earning his fifth Airborne Park Speedway track championship. On the track, Bruno and Keith Pelkey battled for the early lead before Bruno established control. Behind him, Joey Scarbrough and Michael Wright put on impressive drives through the field after starting 11th and 15th, respectively. Despite the pressure, Bruno stayed strong out front and held on for his first victory of the season, capping off his championship campaign in style. The Renegades were next with a 20-lap feature that featured one of the closest championship battles of the night. Billy Thwaits entered the event with a 16-point lead over Shawn Duquette. Shawn Fountain led the early laps before Duquette charged to the front and took over the top spot. Duquette would go on to score his fifth victory of the season. However, Thwaits held the championship, knowing an eighth-place finish or better would secure the title. Thwaits finished fourth, claiming his first career track championship by six points over Duquette. Twelve Crown Vics then took the green flag for their 20-lap finale. Benjamin Deyo grabbed the early lead after a spirited battle with Scott Richner, but Richie Turner quickly worked his way forward from his sixth-place starting position. Once Turner reached the front, he drove away from the field to capture his seventh victory of the season. The win also secured Turner's first Crown Vic track championship as he finished the year 25 points ahead of the competition. The biggest field of the night belonged to the Mini Stocks, with 26 cars taking part in the 20-lap finale. Cody Young and Haiden Bourdeau battled for the lead during the opening stages before Young began to pull away. Late in the race, Joe Warren had other ideas. Warren charged to the front in the closing laps, taking over the lead and racing on to score his second victory of the season. The championship battle had largely been decided coming into the night as JP Corrow held a commanding 40-point lead over Jake Fountain. Corrow officially secured the title when he signed in for the event and later finished 12th. That result gave him the championship by 24 points over Fountain. The final race of the 2026 season was the third 40-lap Enduro of the year. Twenty-one drivers took part in the season-ending event, and when the checkered flag finally waved on the year, it was Jamie Whitney Jr. standing in Victory Lane after earning the Enduro victory. PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — With the 2026 championship season entering its final stretch, Airborne Park Speedway hosted its annual Make-A-Wish Night on Saturday evening, featuring a full card of racing highlighted by Twin 20-lap features for the JS Steel Sportsman Modifieds. By night's end, several championship battles had tightened while others saw contenders create valuable breathing room with only two races remaining. The evening began with the Crown Vic division, where nine competitors answered the call for a 20-lap feature. Trevor Jaques led the field to green and quickly established himself at the front, but all eyes were soon focused on eighth-place starter Richie Turner. Turner methodically worked his way through traffic before taking the lead in the opening laps. Once out front, he pulled away from the field and drove to his fifth victory of the season. The win proved doubly important as points leader Scott Richner struggled to a sixth-place finish, allowing Turner to leave the night with a four-point advantage atop the standings. The first of two JS Steel Sportsman Modified features saw 15 cars take the green flag. Cory Castell and Jamy Begor put on a spirited battle for the lead early in the event before Castell gradually found another gear. As the laps wound down, Castell stretched his advantage and crossed the finish line first to record the first Sportsman Modified victory of his career. Begor settled for second while championship leader Travis Bruno completed the podium in third. Bruno's solid finish, combined with a tenth-place result for title rival Heywood, allowed him to increase his championship edge to 16 points. Castell remained fifth in the standings, 52 points back and still within striking distance entering the season's final two events. The Hartson Total Opening 358 Modifieds then took center stage for their 30-lap main event. Chris Raabe started on the front row and wasted little time establishing control of the race. While Raabe drove away from the field, championship contenders Mike Mahaney and Felix Roy mounted impressive charges from tenth and eleventh starting positions. Both worked their way into the top three but were unable to challenge Raabe for the victory. Raabe collected his second win of the season and climbed to sixth in the standings. Meanwhile, Roy's strong finish cut Mahaney's championship lead to just nine points. The Renegades feature provided another chapter in the division's title fight. Steven Bresette led the opening laps before Billy Thwaits stormed to the front. Thwaits faced persistent challenges from Nathaniel Guay and Brad Bushey throughout the race but never relinquished the top spot. The second Sportsman Modified feature may have produced the most exciting battle of the evening. Codie Aubin and Travis Bruno traded the lead during the early stages before Caleb Drugan emerged as a contender after starting eighth. Following a restart, Drugan worked his way around Bruno and took command of the race. Late in the event, Mike Wright charged spectacularly from 15th on the grid to challenge for the victory, but Drugan held firm to claim his second win of the season. Wright finished second ahead of Aubin, while Bruno's consistency proved valuable in the championship race. With Heywood struggling throughout both features, Bruno's lead ballooned to 32 points with only two races remaining. The Mini Stocks brought 25 cars to the speedway for a thrilling 15-lap feature. J.J. Laporte controlled the early laps while fending off challenges from Nick Harnden. Points leader J.P. Corrow steadily advanced from 13th starting position and joined the fight for the lead late in the race. A late caution set up a dramatic restart, and Corrow edged Laporte in a thrilling side-by-side finish at the checkered flag to score his second victory of the season. PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — Airborne Park Speedway returned to action in front of a packed pit area and enthusiastic crowd Saturday night, with more than 80 race teams filling the grounds for an exciting evening of dirt-track racing. Headlining the program was a special $1,000-to-win Mini Stock feature, while the Hartson Total Opening 358 Modifieds, JS Steel Sportsman Modifieds, RainPro of Vermont Limited Sportsman Modifieds, and Renegades completed the card. After hot laps and qualifying heat races wrapped up, feature racing took center stage. The Hartson Total Opening 358 Modifieds led off the night's feature program with 15 cars taking the green flag for 30 laps. Preston Forbes and Jordan Fornwalt set the pace early, battling intensely for the lead before Forbes began to establish control. That advantage was quickly challenged by Danny Gagne, who steadily reeled in the leader and engaged in an entertaining battle at the front of the field. As the race progressed, the high groove became the preferred line around the speedway. Gagne expertly used the cushion to power around Forbes and take command. A late-race charge from points leader Mike Mahaney kept fans on the edge of their seats, but Gagne remained composed and drove away with his first victory of the season. Francis White crossed the line second, while Jake Fountain charged into third after getting around Harnden in the closing laps. The podium finish allowed Fountain to trim teammate JP Corrow's championship lead to just eight points with three races left to run. The JS Steel Sportsman Modifieds were next on track for their 25-lap feature, attracting a field of 16 cars. Dylan Rabtoy and Vince Quenneville quickly established themselves as the class of the field and pulled away from the rest of the pack. The pair waged a thrilling duel throughout the event before Quenneville found momentum in the high lane during the closing circuits. Using the cushion to his advantage, Quenneville surged into the lead and captured his first Airborne Park Speedway victory of the season. Antony Boissonnet controlled the opening stages of the 20-lap contest, but Brogan Roberts stayed within striking distance and eventually mounted his challenge. At the midway point, Roberts found speed around the outside and powered past Boissonnet to take over the lead. While points leader Gary English closed the gap late in the race, Roberts was able to withstand the pressure and score his second Airborne victory of the season. The win also tightened the championship battle, as Roberts trimmed English's advantage to just 10 points with three races still on the schedule. The final feature of the evening belonged to the Renegades, which brought 12 cars to the speedway for their 20-lap showdown. Tyler Irwin led the early laps before the division's two top championship contenders, Billy Thwaits and Shawn Duquette, worked their way to the front. Once there, the familiar rivals staged another entertaining battle for victory. This time, Thwaits came out on top. The calendar may have flipped to August, but the action at Airborne Park Speedway remained as hot as ever as the track hosted Round 10 of the season along with its annual Backpack Giveaway Night. With 88 cars filling the pit area across six divisions, fans were treated to a full night of racing as Airborne helped send local kids back to school in style. The feature action began with the return of the Crown Vic division, where 12 drivers took the green for a 15-lap showdown. After an impressive drive from eighth on the starting grid, Richie Turner worked his way to the front and took control of the race. Turner was forced to withstand late pressure from Andrew Lopes and Beau Reeves, but the veteran driver stayed smooth and consistent to capture his fourth victory of the season. Lopes and Reeves completed the podium while Scott Richner's fifth-place effort allowed him to cut the championship gap to just six points. The spotlight then shifted to the Hartson Total Opening 358 Modifieds for their 30-lap main event. Fifteen cars rolled onto the speedway with Thomas Cook quickly asserting himself at the front of the field. Racing on a tacky track surface, Cook built a comfortable advantage and appeared poised for a breakthrough win. Late in the race, however, the pressure mounted as Felix Roy and Tim Fuller closed in. Vince Quenneville led the opening laps while Keith Pelkey and Nick Heywood remained within striking distance. The story of the race, however, belonged to Evan Roberts. Starting at the tail of the field, Roberts methodically worked his way through traffic before mounting a late charge to the front. Roberts grabbed the lead in the closing laps and drove away for his second win of the season. Pelkey and Heywood rounded out the top three. The championship battle saw another shakeup as Heywood's third-place finish was enough to reclaim the points lead by three points, while Roberts moved into third in the standings. The Rain Pro of Vermont Limited Sportsman Modifieds featured eight entries for their 15-lap contest. The race up front came down to reigning champion and current points leader Kobe Hernandez and Gary English. On this night, English proved to be the class of the field, racing to victory while extending his championship lead to 15 points over Brogan Roberts. David Johnson completed the podium with a third-place finish. Closing out the evening were the always entertaining Mini Stocks, which brought a stout field of 25 cars to the speedway. The battle for the win centered on Josh Laporte and Glenn Engstrom, who spent much of the race trading the top spot. When the checkered flag finally waved, it was Engstrom standing in Victory Lane. Jake Fountain finished third, and with points contender JP Corrow ending the night in sixth, Fountain gained valuable ground in the championship battle by cutting the deficit by 15 points. RANSOMVILLE, N.Y. — A strong crowd filled the grandstands Friday night as Ransomville Speedway hosted its 14th round of the 2026 season and honored local racing legend Pete Bicknell with his induction into the Wall of Honor. All five weekly divisions were in action on a night presented by IMA and Hardison Funeral Homes, producing a full slate of racing and one of the most dramatic heat race incidents of the year. The moment that stunned the crowd came during the Krown Undercoating Modified heats when Kyle Richner was involved in contact off Turn 2 and launched into a violent series of flips down the backstretch. Richner’s car tumbled end over end at least five times before coming to rest. Despite the severity of the crash, he climbed out under his own power, drawing a loud ovation. In the Ki Po Chevrolet Street Stocks, ten cars took the green for 20 laps. James Henry dominated early before a caution erased his advantage and brought Chase Kish into contention. Kish made the winning move in the closing laps, and post-race tech added another twist when Henry was disqualified, elevating Brandon Sherwood to second and Mike Welch to third. Kish’s third win of the season tightens the championship battle, leaving him eight points behind Sherwood. The Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks saw eleven cars battle for 15 laps, highlighted by a four-car fight among Cody Griffin, Cole Susice, Jeffrey Wynes, and Ben Hornquist. Foster secured his first career Sportsman Modified victory and moved to seventh in points. Tuttle finished second, while Cody McPherson slipped to a 54-point deficit after a quiet night. The Krown Undercoating 358 Modifieds headlined the evening with fifteen cars set for 30 laps. Steven Lewis and Dave Flannigan battled early until Flannigan clipped a tractor tire, handing Lewis the lead. From there, Mat Williamson and Gary Lindberg charged from deep in the field, overtaking Lewis and Susice as they marched forward.
