It would be Championship Sunday from Buffalo as it would be an all–Section I NYSPHSAA Boys Hockey Championship, with the #2 Byram Hills Bobcats facing off against the #3 Rye Garnets. The Bobcats opened the scoring at the 4:51 mark of the first period on a goal from Christian Cipriano. The Garnets answered back at 8:14 when Jamie Morris scored to tie the game at one. Just over two minutes later, the Garnets took a 2–1 lead on a goal by Ryan Draddy. Then, with 55 seconds left in the first period, the Garnets extended their lead to 3–1 on a goal from Colin Nigro, and that’s how the period would end. In the second period, Will Weinman scored at the 12:05 mark to make it a 4–1 Garnets lead on the lone goal of the frame. In the third period, the Garnets put the icing on the cake with Ryan Draddy’s second goal of the game at the 12:43 mark for a 5–1 advantage. In the winning effort for the Garnets, Fernando Mosquera made 17 saves as they captured the state title. As for the Bobcats, Lucas Guggenheimer was impressive in his own right, making 63 saves.
