Plattsburgh State's Kaitlin Drew-Mead (27) splits a pair of Kangaroos and gets the shot off on net for the scoring chance. It would be a rare Friday afternoon matchup as the #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Canton Kangaroos in NEWHL action at the Ronald B Stafford Arena in front of 300 fans. The upstart Kangaroos would show that they came to play as they would get the opening goal of the game at 2:57 of the first period from Breanna Bedborough. Although the Cardinals turn around and come back on fire as they would get four goals to end out the period from Erin McArdle, Sara Krauseneck (twice) and Hanna Rose for the 4-1 lead. In the second period, the Cardinals would keep their foot on the accelerator as they would get four more goals from Sarah Wolfe, Abby Brush (twice), and Sara Krauseneck would get her hat trick goal for a 8-1 Cardinals lead. In the third period, the Cardinals would lighten up as they would have just a lone goal from Holly Schmelzer to secure the 9-1 victory. In the winning effort, Chloe Beaubien would make 16 saves as the Cardinals go to 16-1 on the season. It would be a nonconference tilt between north country foes as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Canton Kangaroos. The game would start off good as the Cardinals would score 14 seconds into the game on Ryan Kuhn's goal. Although the Kangaroos would tie the game up at the 9:48 mark on a power-play goal by Jesse Farabee. Then with 4:25 left in the period, the Kangaroos would take the 2-1 lead on the Max Routledge goal. In the second period at the 9:40 mark, the Cardinals would score to cut the deficit to 1 at 3-2 on the Ryan Hogg goal. Then at the 15:14 mark of the second period, the Kangaroos would score again to regain the 2 goal lead on Max Routledge's second goal of the night at 4-2. When the teams came back for the third period the Cardinals would do there best to tie the game up. They would get it within 1 at the 7:21 mark on Adam Tretowicz's goal to make it 3-2. Although they couldn't get it any closer and would fall to 4-3. In the losing effort, Brandon Wells would make 23 saves as they fall to 3-6-1 and the Kangaroos go to 5-3-1 on the season. Gallery

The Cardinals would not be the best of host as they score 38 seconds into the game on the Ivy Boric goal to make it 1-0 Cardinals. The Cardinals would answer again at the 4:36 mark of the period on the Madison Walker goal to make it 2-0 Cardinals. Before the period would end the Cardinals would strike two more times to make it 4-0 on goals from Holly Schmelzer and Annie Kantonka. The Cardinals would lighten up the rest of the game and get just one more at the 9:51 mark of the second period from Annie Katonka for her second of the game to make it 5-0 Cardinals. The Kangaroos would avoid the shutout with a goal by Alyssa Suzuki at the 1:54 mark of third period. The Cardinals would secure the 5-1 win and go to 7-0 on the season. In the second period, they would pick up where they left off as Brandon O'Quinn would get second of the night on a power-play goal to make it 6-0. Then the Kangaroos would finally get on the period with two-goal in a two-minute span in the second period to make it 6-2 at the end of the second period. Then a 1:20 into the third period Pat Egan would strike to extend the Cardinals lead to 7-2. Then in the closing minutes of the game, the Cardinals would strike with Luke Baleshetea's second goal of the night to finish off the game and give the Cardinals the 8-2 victory.
