Plattsburgh State's Alexandro Moliner (9) gets the opening goal just 52 seconds into the game for the Cardinals' 1-0 lead. It would be the classic rivalry, renewing itself: Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #3 Oswego State Lakers, with 14,500 fans at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. The home Cardinals would waste little time getting the opening goal of the game, just 54 seconds in, on a goal by Alexandro Moliner for the 1-0 lead, and the stress ball was released. Releasedust 90 seconds later, the Cardinals would make it 2-0 on the Spencer Bellina goal, and the upset-minded Cardinals were cooking. Then, at the 9:15 mark of the first, the Lakers would cut the deficit in half as Matt McQuade scored to make it 2-1. The game would stay there until 22 seconds into the second, when the Cardinals would regain the two-goal lead at 3-1 on Quinn Tavares' goal. Then at the 7:22 mark, the Cardinals would extend ttheirlead to 4-1 when Felix-Antoine Parenteau would score The game would stay there till the last 7 minutes of the second period when the Lakers would go on a four goal blitz from Tommy Bannister (shorthanded goal), Connor Gatto, Josh Simpson, and Matt McQuade (powerplay goal) and take the 5-4 lead. In the third period, the Cardinals shaded their chances to tie the game but couldn't get the game-tying goal, and the Lakers held on for the 5-4 win. In the win, the Lakers improved to 13-2-1, as Manzi and Milberg combined for 27 saves. As for the Cardinals, Spry would make 24 saves as they fall to 8-10 on the season and head to Cortland and Morrisville next weekend. Gallery

The game would remain scoreless until the 7:37 mark of the second period, when the Cardinals would break through with a goal from Bailey MacKellar. The game would stay there until the 5:31 mark of the third period, when Lakers Georgia Cunliffe would score a top-shelfer to tie the game at 1. Then at the 11:33 mark of the third, the Lakers would score to take the 2-1 lead on the Kayla Doerre goal. The Cardinals would have their chances down the stretch to get the equalizer, but would have none, and the Lakers would get the 2-1 upset victory. In the winning effort, the Lakers' Mia Devivomadee made 30 saves as they went to 10-7 on the season. As for the Cardinals, Maddy Stetson made 19 saves as they fell to 10-6 on the season, heading into a pair of games next weekend with North Country foe Potsdam State. Gallery
