PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — The Plattsburgh State Cardinals continued their strong season with a 4-0 win over the SUNY Delhi Broncos in a SUNYAC women's soccer matchup Wednesday afternoon before 200 fans. The contest marked the first-ever meeting between the two programs, with Plattsburgh State entering the day at 4-2-4 and SUNY Delhi carrying a 3-5-2 record. The Cardinals opened the scoring in the 26th minute when Sydney Myers found the back of the net for her fifth goal of the season, giving the home side a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. Plattsburgh State seized control early in the second half. Alexis Patrick recorded her first goal of the season in the 49th minute to double the Cardinals' advantage. Just three minutes later, Myers struck again, scoring her second goal of the match and sixth of the season to extend the lead to 3-0. The Cardinals kept the pressure on and added an insurance marker in the 72nd minute when Ellie Graney scored her first goal of the season. With a balanced offense and strong defense, Plattsburgh State secured the 4-0 shutout. The Cardinals return to SUNYAC play Saturday when they travel to Oswego, while SUNY Delhi hosts Alfred State.Gallery
