Then just over three minutes later Paul Fregeau would score again to make it 2-0 Cardinals. Then at the 10:17 mark of the first Cardinal's Aryton Valente would score to make it 3-0 at the first intermission. Plattsburgh State's Spencer Finney (31) throws out the pad to make the pad save one of his 19 saves on the night. The #4 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host fellow SUNYAC foe Cortland State Red Dragons. The Cardinals would take the 1-0 lead at 6:59 of the first period on Rich Botting's goal. Then about 90 seconds later the Cardinals would extend the lead to 2-0 on Connor Toomey's goal. Then to close out the period at the 16:59 mark the Cardinals would make it 3-0 on Michael Cassidy's goal. Then just seven seconds into the second period the Cardinals would make it 4-0 on Kyle Hall's shorthanded goal. Then at the 2:19 mark of the second period, Patrick Hermans would make it 5-0. The Lakers would get the opening goal of the game at 12:41 of the first period from Chris Waterstreet to make it 1-0. The game would remain there till the 2:18 mark of the second period when the Lakers would extend there lead to 2-0 on Chris Raguseo's goal. Then the Cardinals would get on the board at 12:21 mark of the third period on Mark Constantine's goal to make it 2-1 to make it a game down the stretch. Then with under 5 minutes left in the game Lakers' Bobby Gretsakis would score on the power play to put the game away for the Lakers at 3-1. It would be be looking like it was going to be a scoreless first until the Mustangs took 1-0 lead with 1:02 left in the period on the Zach Baker goal. When the teams came back for the second period the Cardinals would waste no time in tying the game up on Mark Constantine's goal 20 seconds into the period. Then at the 7:23 mark of the period, the Cardinals would take the 2-1 lead on the Michael Radisa goal. Then at the 16:52 mark of the period, the Mustangs would answer back on the Robert Molinaro goal to make it 2-2. Then just 15 seconds later the Cardinals would regain the lead at 3-2 on the Rich Botting goal. The game would stay there until the 8:43 mark of the third period when Zach Popp would score to make it 4-2. Then at the 14:30 mark of the third Joe Santino would score for the Mustangs to try and make it interesting down the stretch at 4-3. Although in the closing minute of the game Brandon O'Quinn would score the empty netter to secure the 5-3 victory.
