It would be Section X Lacrosse action from the Stafford Middle School in Plattsburgh as the Plattsburgh Hornets would be hosting the Colton-Pierrepont Colts in a mid-season affair as it would be a battle of one lose teams to see who would take control of the Division II lead. The game would start with both teams trading the lead back and forth in the first quarter and the Hornets would lead 4-3 after the first quarter. However, from there, the Hornets would take complete control of the game as they would go on a 16-2 run to finish the game and get the 20-5 victory. In the winning effort, the Hornets would take the Division's lead as they approach the midway part of the season at 5-1 as they head into their next match with the Potsdam Sandstoners on Thursday. As for the Colton-Pierrepont Colts, they fall to 2-2 on the season as they will play Saranac Lake/Lake Placid on Wednesday as they look to stay in contention in the standings. Gallery

Brockport State's Nick Askin (8) with the jump shot for the goal as part of a five-goal game in the 17-9 Eagles win. It would be SUNYAC Men's Lacrosse from the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would play the Brockport State Golden Eagles and it would be a senior day as the Cardinals would end their home portion of the season. The Eagles would start on fire and jump out to the 6-3 lead scoring for the Cardinals would be John Eiseman (twice) and Cam Morin. In the second quarter the Eagles would extend their lead with a 3-1 quarter and take a 9-4 lead into the half scoring for the Cardinals would be Donald Woods. In the third quarter the Golden Eagles would take control of the game with a 5-1 quarter and take a 14-5 lead scoring for the Cardinals was Logan Vilardi. In the fourth quarter the Golden Eagles would put the final touches on the Cardinals with a 5-2 quarter scoring for the Cardinals would be Cam Morin and John Eiseman as the Golden Eagles get the 19-7 win. Plattsburgh State's Cam Morin (11) with the underhand shot as part of a two-goal afternoon as the Cardinals fall 17-9. It would be SUNYAC Men's Lacrosse from the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would play the Brockport State Golden Eagles and it would be a senior day as the Cardinals would end their home portion of the season. It would be SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse from the Plattsburgh State Cardinals as the Cardinals would host the Oswego State Lakers in their final home game of the season. The Cardinals would get the game's opening goal just 1:13 into the game on the Cynthia Barnosky goal, but the Lakers would answer the game with four unanswered goals to end the first quarter to make it a 4-1 game. In the second quarter, the Lakers would take control of the game with a 5-2 quarter to take the 9-3 lead at the half on a pair of Cardinals goals from Caitlin Nash and Erica Dickinson. When the teams would return for the second half the Lakers would shut down the Cardinals with a 9-0 half for the 18-3 Lakers win. With the Cardinals losing they fall to 3-11 on the season with one game left on the season as they will travel to Potsdam to take on the Bears. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Baseball: Beekmantown Eagles @ Plattsburgh Hornets April 19th 2024

Plattsburgh's Jack Sorrell (3) fields the grounder on the turf and fires to first for the out. It would be a matchup in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Baseball as it would be a matchup between longtime rivals the Plattsburgh Hornets and the Beekmantown Eagles. The game would remain scoreless until the 4th inning when the Hornets would strike first with a pair of singles led by Jack Sorrell to give the Hornets a 3-0 lead. Then again in the fifth inning, the Hornets would have another three-run inning to give the Hornets the 6-0 lead. Then the Hornets would conclude their scoring in the sixth inning with two runs for the 8-0 win. Warren Miller gave up one hit over six innings in the winning effort while striking out six and walking five. Carson Duval would lead the bats going 2-3 at the plate with a pair of RBIs as they went to 5-0 on the season. As for the Eagles, they would suffer the loss going to 2-5 on the season. Gallery

Section X Boy's Lacrosse action this afternoon from the Stafford Middle School Field would be as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host their fellow normal section vii opponent the Saranac Lake Placid Lakers. The game would start low scoring with the defenses being superior as the Hornets would have the slim 2-1 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Hornets would break out with a five-goal outburst and take control of the game at 7-2 at the half. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Lakers would make some changes and their defense would be on display as the Hornets would get the lone goal of the game for the 8-2 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Lakers would do all they could to get back in the game with a 4-goal quarter. However, it would not be enough as the Hornets would hold on for the 9-6 victory. In the winning effort, the Hornets would go to 3-1 on the season as they head into their next game on Friday as they travel to St Lawerence to take on the Larries.
