ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. — A sold-out crowd packed the grandstands at the Champlain Valley Fair as the KSR Night of Destruction made its annual stop in Vermont, bringing monster trucks, quad racing, motorcycle stunts, and plenty of high-flying entertainment to one of the fair's most anticipated attractions. Five monster trucks headlined the show, including Bad News Travels Fast driven by Brandon Darrow, Crime Time driven by Brittany Ames, Culture Shock piloted by Daniell Ames, Geronimo Reincarnated with hometown favorite Rob Pouture behind the wheel, and Virginia Giant driven by Chris Vowell. The evening began with a motorcycle stunt rider thrilling fans with a series of wheelies before attention turned to the first round of Quad Wars competition between Team Vermont and Team New Jersey. The opening round delivered close racing throughout before Team New Jersey pulled off a dramatic last-corner pass to secure the first victory and take an early lead. Monster truck action then took center stage with the wheelie contest. Each driver attempted to impress the crowd with a unique performance. When the applause was measured, it was hometown favorite Rob Pouture in Geronimo Reincarnated who earned top honors after executing a spectacular stoppie over a concrete barrier, bringing the crowd to its feet. The second round of Quad Wars saw Team Vermont battle back. Feeding off the support of the hometown crowd, the Green Mountain State representatives captured the round victory and tied the overall score at one race apiece heading into the deciding round. Freestyle competition was next for the monster trucks. Brittany Ames opened the freestyle session in Crime Time, launching the truck over obstacles and delivering plenty of air for the fans. Daniell Ames followed in Culture Shock, continuing the momentum with a series of big jumps and aggressive runs around the course. The loudest cheers of the night came when Rob Pouture took to the track in Geronimo Reincarnated. Pouture attacked every obstacle on the course, performed another crowd-pleasing stoppie, and then executed a rare moonwalk maneuver by balancing the truck on its nose while backing up. Team New Jersey regained control after aggressive racing knocked a Team Vermont rider off his machine. Following the incident, officials ordered a two-lap captain's challenge to determine the overall winner. Team Vermont appeared poised to force another showdown before mechanical problems struck on the white-flag lap, allowing Team New Jersey to secure both the challenge race and the overall Quad Wars victory. Hurricane Force and Steve Thompson perform the stoppie without a shell on the truck for everyone to see the truck. It would be the second show of the day from the Clinton County Fair for the Versus Monster Trucks Tour as they battle it out in two-wheel skills, racing, and freestyle action. The trucks in attendance would be Aggravated Assault, Metal Monster, Hurricane Force, Virginia Giant, and Sabotage. First up for the evening would be racing and with humid conditions on the track the trucks were having trouble running it would be a battle just to keep going and we would have an upset winner with Metal Monster getting his first-ever racing win over Loud and Dirty. Then we would have the two-wheel skills contest and for the second time on the day, the winner would be Hurricane Force and Steve Thompson with the stoppie. Then to finish off the night it would be the popular wheelie poppie axle snapping high-flying freestyle action and the winner on this night for the second time would be Hurricane Force over Loud and Dirty. The Versus Monster Truck Tour will continue its carnival ride in a couple of weeks as they head to the Herkimer County Fairgrounds on July 26th and 27th for another high-excitement weekend of action. Virginia Giant and Hurricane Force would launch over the cars during the semi-finals of side-by-side racing that would see Hurricane Force get the win. It would be the first of two shows on the day for the annual return of the Monster Trucks with the Versus Monster Truck Tour but with a twist this season as it would be a completely different lineup of trucks compared to years past with Aggravated Assault, Metal Monster, Hurricane Force, Loud and Dirty, Sabotage and Virginia Giant as they battle the course. The first event up would be qualifying and racing on two different tracks as they would qualify on a U Shape track and racing would be on Straight Line but in the end, it wouldn't matter as Hurricane Force would take quick time and win racing over Loud and Dirty to take the early event lead. Then we would have the two-wheel skills competition and the winner once again would be Steve Thompson and Hurricane Force with his moonwalk that would see him slightly overrotate and end with rubber side up. Then after the intermission, the track would be set up for every popular axle snapping wheelie popping freestyle action and the crowd ever have a treat with the areil assault between Hurricane Force and Loud and Dirty but in the end by crowd applause Hurricane Force would complete the afternoon show sweep.
