For the first time in the history of the ECAC Hockey Conference, the Women's Hockey Tournament would have its final four and championship at the famed Herb Brooks Arena, the site of the 1980 Miracle on Ice. The first semi-final game would see the #1 Yale Bulldogs take on the #4 Cornell Big Red in front of 1,800 fans, with the winner advancing to the championship the next day. The Big Red would get the opening goal of the game just 44 seconds into the game from Avi Adam for the 1-0 lead. The Bulldogs would get the tying goal at the 14:04 mark when Gracie Gilkyson would score on the power play to make it a 1-1 game. The Bulldogs would answer again just three minutes later, from Emma McGowan, to give the Bulldogs the 2-1 lead, and that's where the first period would end. The Bulldogs would stay on fire as they returned for the second period when Molly Boyle would strike just 2:47 into the second period to give them the 3-1 lead. Then at the 8:55 mark of the period, the Bulldogs would extend their lead to 4-1 when Carina DiAntonio would score.
