The Boquet Valley Griffins picked up their first win of the season on Monday afternoon, defeating the Seton Catholic Knights 4-0 in a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Division II matchup. Still looking for their first victory of the year, the Griffins wasted little time taking control. Boquet Valley broke the scoreless tie in the 27th minute, finding the back of the net to take a 1-0 advantage. The Griffins continued to apply pressure throughout the opening half and doubled their lead in the 37th minute, heading into the break with a comfortable 2-0 cushion. Boquet Valley maintained its momentum after halftime. The Griffins added another goal in the 48th minute to extend the lead to 3-0 and continued to dictate play on both ends of the field. A fourth goal in the 77th minute put the game out of reach and sealed the team's first victory of the season. The shutout win improves Boquet Valley's record to 1-2-1 as the Griffins prepare for their home opener against Ticonderoga on Tuesday. Seton Catholic, meanwhile, falls to 0-3 on the season. The Knights will look to rebound and earn their first win of the year when they take on the Moriah Vikings on Thursday. Gallery
