It would be the second game of the weekend for the Saranac Spartans as they would host another Section VI team at the Ameri-can North Arena as they continue the season's early start. The visiting Bulldogs would get the game's opening goal in the first couple of minutes for the 1-0 lead. Then, about the 4:30 mark of the game's opening period, the Spartans would tie the game up at one on the Ashtyn Catlin goal. Then, at the 6:17 mark of the period, Ashtyn Catlin would strike again for the Spartans to give them the 2-1 lead. Ten seconds later, the Bulldogs would tie the game up at two on the Evan Adair goal. The Spartan's offense would not go quietly, though, as they would retake the lead with 6 minutes left in the period on the Brody Macomber goal to make it a 3-2 Spartans lead, and that's where the first period would end. When the teams return for the second period, the defense would be the game's name as both teams would have their chances to score, but the Bulldogs would have the lone goal of the period just three minutes in to tie the game up at three. The Bulldogs would come up for the third period looking for the go-ahead goal and get it at the 5:25 mark from Ben Martin for the 4-3 lead. The game would stay there till the 10:06 mark of the period when the Spartans would tie the game up at four on the Nolan Miner. The Spartans would keep coming, and they would get their lead back at the 13:15 mark of the Gabe Moore goal and make it 5-4. Then, with just over a minute left in the game, Ashtyn Catlin would come down on the breakaway and beat the Bulldogs netminder to complete the hat trick and give the Spartans the 6-4 win. In the winning effort, Ashtyn Catlin would have three goals, and Brody Macomber would have three-point nights with a goal and two assists as they go 3-1 on the season as they head into the St. Albans tournament next weekend. The Saranac Spartans would start the home portion of their 2024-2025 campaign after a perfect 2-0 weekend in Syracuse as they would welcome in Section VI foe and Division 1 team, the Grand Island Vikings. The game would start well for the visiting Vikings as they would get the opening goal in the first 90 seconds from Kyle Kowalczewski for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there til midway through the period when the Vikings would extend their lead to 2-0 on the Ricky Kwarciak goal, and that's where the first period would end. The Spartans would get on the board at the 5:46 mark of the second period when Evan Patrie would find the net on the wrister and make it a 2-1 game. Then, about 30 seconds later, the Spartans would tie the game at two on the Ryan Campbell goal. The Vikings would return and retake the lead at 3-2 on the powerplay goal from Jaxon Montana. Then, after a miscue in the Spartan's end, the Vikings would break out on the breakaway, and Donovan Heacock would score to make it a 4-2 Vikings game with about 2:30 left in the second period, and that's where the period would end. The Spartans would make it a 4-3 one-goal game just 2:31 into the third period on the Ashtyn Catlin goal. The Spartans would have their chances through the rest of the period, including a couple of powerplays and even five-on-three powerplays, but they could not get the equalizer on the night, and the Vikings would get the 4-3 win. In the winning effort, the Grand Island Vikings go to 2-0-1 on the season as they head into their game against Germantown. Ausable Valley's (12) goes up on the rebound chance with three defenders on her for the score. It would be another night of Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls's Basketball action, this time from the Plattsburgh High School, and it would see the Hornets tipping off against the Ausable Valley Patriots. The game would straight off tight as both teams found the basket at a good clip and tied at 12 after the first quarter. Both teams would keep up their good scoring in the second quarter, but the Hornets would be a little better in the quarter at 13-11 and take the 25-23 lead into the break. When the teams would return for the third quarter, the defense would step up for the Patriots, and they would have a 10-6 quarter and take the 33-31 lead into the final quarter. In that final quarter, the offenses on both sides would return, but the Patriots would be better on this day with a 14-11 quarter to seal the 47-42 victory. Gallery

Peru's Reese Duprey (5) with the block on Plattsburgh's Izzy Detulleo (33) as she took the chips on the baseline. It would be the opening night of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season for the Plattsburgh Hornets, and the Peru Nighthawks would renew their rivalry again on the hardwood. The game would start well for the Nighthawks as they would jump to a 19-12 lead after the first eight minutes. In the second quarter, the Nighthawks would stay hot as they would have a 19-14 quarter and take the 38-26 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, they played an even third quarter, with the Nighthawks winning the quarter 11-10 and taking the 49-36. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets would do their best to get back in the game with a shutdown defense, and they would win the quarter 10-2, but it would not be enough on this night as the Nighthawks would get the 51-46 win and the Nighthawks would go to 3-0 on the season while the Hornets fall to 0-1 on the season. Plattsburgh's Lucas Dashnaw (27) stuffs the rebound between the legs of La Salle's Carter Irving (31) for the go-ahead goal. It would be the opening night of the High School Hockey season and it would see the Plattsburgh Hornets host the Lasalle Cadets from Section 2 from the Ameri-can North Arena. The game would start well for the road Cadets as they would get the opening goal of the game in the first five minutes of the contest. The Hornets would keep coming and they would tie the game up at one at the 8:19 mark of the first period when Colby Chase would get his first goal of the season. The game would not stay tied very long cause at the 10:46 mark of the period just two minutes later the Hornets would take the 2-1 lead on the Lucas Dashnaw power-play goal to give the Hornets the 2-1 lead and that's where firs first-period end. There would be no scoring in the second period of the game but both teams would have their chances to make to take the lead just couldn't put it away. When the teams would head to the third period the Cadets would not waste time in tying the game up as they would get the equalizer from Michael Nocera at 4:53 mark. The rest of the period and overtime would go by without the teams finding the net again and the game would end in the 2-2 tie. Both goalies would be on point for the opener as Carter Irving for the Cadets and Owen Chapple for the Hornets would both have over 30 saves on the net as both teams start the season 0-0-1. The Cadets are back in action on Saturday as they will take on the Beekmantown Eagles. As for the Hornets, they will be back in action Saturday against Niskayuna Hawks. Gallery

The Massachusetts Lowell Riverhawks are crowned the 2024 and second annual Adirondack Winter Invitional presented by Golden Arrow Lakeside Resorts champions in a goal differential against the Providence Friars. It would be the final game of the 2nd annual Adirondack Winter Invitational presented by Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort, and it would feature a matchup of a pair of top 20 teams as the #16 Massachusetts Lowell River Hawks and the #20 Clarkson Golden Knights from the Lake Placid Olympic Center Herb Brooks Arena. It would take till the last minute of the period before we had our first game goal. Still, both teams would score within ten seconds of each other as Connor Eddy would get his third goal of the season for the Riverhawks, and Ryan Richardson would get his 5th of the year for the Golden Knights, and the period would end tied at one. The Golden Knights would take the lead in the game at the 8:32 mark of the second period on Ray Fust's first goal for the 2-1 lead. However, the Riverhawks would answer right back and tie the game at two 17 seconds later on the Mirko Buttazzoni second of the season. Then, just 90 seconds after that, the Riverhawks would regain the lead at 3-2 on Matt CCrasa'sthird of the season. The Golden Knights would keep fighting and tie the game up again on Ryan Richardson's second goal with 4:09 left in the second period to end the second period tied at four. When the teams returned for the third period, both would be looking for the go-ahead goal, but the Riverhawks would be the ones that would get the 4-3 lead with just under ten minutes left on Owen Cole's fifth of the season. The Golden Knights would not be denied on this day as they would tie it up again, this time on the Ellis Rickwood goal, his third of the season, and from there, the game would head to overtime. In the three-on-three overtime, both teams would have their chances. Still, no one would be able to light the lamp, and the game would officially go as a 4-4 tie, but because of the weekend tournament, a winner would be needed, which would be the Massachusetts Lowell Riverhawks on the eighth round of the shootout. Henry Welsch would make saves in the winning effort for the Riverhawks, and they went to10-on the three seasons. It would be the second day of the 2nd Annual Adirondack WinterInvitationall from the Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, NY, and the first matchup of the day would feature the #10 Providence Friars taking on the Saints from St. Lawrence as the Friars would be looking to go perfect on the weekend against the North Country foes in front of 210 fans. The game would start well for the Friars as they would get the opening goal of the game just 3:21 into the contest as Tanner Adams would get his second of the weekend and eight on the season to give them the 1-0 lead, and that would be the only scoring of the first period In the second period,d the Saints would get their first goal of the weekend, and it would come from Tyler Cristall for second of the season as it would tie the game up atone1 just 2:31 into the period and that would be the lone goal of the period, and the teams would enter the third period tied at 1 The Saints would enter the third looking for the upset of number ten in the country, although that would not be happening on this day as the Friars would take the 2-1 lead at the 8:51 mark of the third on the John Mustrd's fourth of the season and that's how the game would end at 2-1 Friars In the winning effort, the Friars Zachry Borgiel would make 19 saves on the night as they go to 10-3-2 in the season As for the Saints, Dominic Basse would make 33 saves in the afternoon as the Saints go to 4-11 in the season, and both teams head back into conference play next season. It would be the second game of the day from the famed Herb Brooks Arena as part of the 2nd annual Adirondack Winter Invitational, and it would feature a matchup inside the top the 20 as the #10 Providence Friars would square off with the #20 Clarkson Golden Knights. The game would start for the Friars as they would waste little time getting the contest's opening goal at the 4:15 mark of the first period on Tanner Adams's seventh goal of the season and take the early 1-0 lead. The game would stay there till the 13:34 mark of the period when the Friars would score this time on the shorthand from Nick Poisson for his 4th of the season. The Golden Knights would finally get into the scoring act two minutes later when Jared Mangan scored the powerplay for his fourth season, and that's where the first period would end. The game would stay there till the 8:57 mark of the second period when the Golden Knights found the equalizer from Ryan Richardson for his fourth of the season and tied the game. That would be the last of the scoring for regulation, and the next 32 minutes would go without a goal. So the teams would head to the overtime, and for some three-on-three hockey, at the 1:57 mark of the period, Graham Gamache would get the game-winner and his third goal of the season. In the winning effort for the Friar, Phillipp Svedeback made 23 saves as they went to 9-3-2 in the season and played for the St. Lawrence Saints tomorrow to finish the tournament. Massachusetts Lowell's Beni Halasaz (33) made the save on the scramble in front to keep the shutout in the closing minutes of the game. It would be the opening game of the 2024 edition of the Adirondack Winter Invitational from the famed Herb Brooks Arena, and it would feature a matchup between hockey east and ECAC foes as the #16 Massachusetts Lowell Riverhawks would face against the St. Lawrence Saints. There would be no scoring through the opening twenty minutes of the game as the teams were feeling each other out in the opening period. The Mass Lowell would finally break through in the second period and get the game's opening goal at the 11:25 mark from Dillan Bentley for the 1-0 lead, and that's where the game would be at the end of the second period. When the teams returned for the third period, both teams had a chance to tie the game up or take control of it, but both goalies were up to the challenge. The Riverhawks would get an empty netter goal in the final minute from Scott Trurman to give them the 2-0 victory. For the Riverhawks, Beni Halasaz would make 20 saves in the shutout victory as they go to 10-3 on the season and will play the Clarkson Golden Knights tomorrow at the end of the tournament. Plattsburgh State's Jake Lanyi (37) with the backhanded wrister shot on net as the Cardinals would get the 4-1 win over the Mustangs. The Cardinals would return home for the second straight night as this time they would take on SUNYAC contender the Morrisville State Mustangs from the Ronnie B in front of 1600 fans on Casella Teddy Bear toss night. The game would start well for the Cardinals as they would get the game's opening goal from Tio D'Addario at the 6:09 mark of the first period. The lead would only stay at one for a short time as the Cardinals would extend their lead to 2-0 just over a minute later on the Colin Callanan goal. The game would remain there till the 3:44 mark of the third period when Jake Sacratini power-play goal to give the Cardinals a 3-0 lead. The Mustangs would finally be able to get on the board at the 9:03 mark of the third period when they would light the lamp on the Evan Fraccaro power play goal. The Cardinals would waste little time regaining their three-goal lead when Ryan Poorman scored a shorthanded goal 40 seconds later, making it a 4-1 game. The Cardinals would control the game from there for the win as they go to 3-3 on the season. Jacon Hearne would make 11 saves on the night, and they go to 3-3 season.
