#1 Beekmantown Eagles Vs #2 Saranac Lake-Lake Placid Lakers February 5th 2024
The Beekmantown Eagles are crowned the 2024 NYSPHSAA Girl's Hockey champions with a 9-0 win over the Saranac Lake-Lake Placid Lakers at the Ronald B Stafford Ice. It would be the NYSPHSAA Section VII Championship in Girl's Hockey and it would feature the #1 Beekmantown Eagles at 18-1 against the #2 Saranac Lake-Lake Placid Lakers at 3-16 from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena in front of a decent crowd. The Eagles would come soaring in the first period and would get three unanswered goals from Avery Parker, Sophia Amaya-Gutierrez, and Janna Ruest and take the 3-0 lead after the first period. When the teams returned for the second period the Eagles would keep their foot on the gas and would have a five-goal outburst in the second with goals from Meegan Burdo, Katie McCormick, Sophia Amaya-Guiterrez (the second of the night), Lilly Pratt, and Ele Fullman and they would take control with the 8-0 lead. In the third period with the game in hand, the teams would empty the benches and let the rest of the teams play and the Eagles would add one more in the period Ele Fullman would get her second of the night as the Beekmantown Eagles get the 9-0 win. In the winning effort, they will advance to the NYSPHSAA Regional Tournament and will play the Adirondack United on February 8th in the opening round as they look to get revenge on their only loss of the season. It would be the NYSPHSAA Section VII Championship in Girl's Hockey and it would feature the #1 Beekmantown Eagles at 18-1 against the #2 Saranac Lake-Lake Placid Lakers at 3-16 from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena in front of a decent crowd. Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey: Saranac Spartans @ Saranac Lake-Lake Placid Lakers January 24th 2024

Sranac's Shawn McLane (29) with the leg pad save on Lakers Carson St. Louis (11). It would be a trip up to Lake Placid and the home of the 1980 and 1932 Winter Olympic games as the Saranac Spartans would face off with the upstart Saranac Lake Lake Placid Lakers at the Jack Shea 1932 Rink. They would be back and forth through the first ten of games and the teams would have their chances. The Spartans would finally break through with the opening goal of the game at the 10:09 period when Gabe Moore would get the Spartans on the board. The game would stay there till the second period when the Spartans would extend their lead to 2-0 on the Landen Duprey goal at the 1:23 mark. The Spartans would look to take control of the game of the game as Landen Duprey would strike again and the Spartans would take a 3-0 lead 5 minutes into the second period. The Lakers would keep fighting throughout the period and break through and break up the shutout at the 10;41 mark of the period when Kellen Duffy would score and make it a 3-1 game. The game would stay there the rest of the period and till the 9:36 mark of the third period, Adrian Barmes would score and make it a 4-1 game. Then with 2:30 left in the game, the Spartans would put the icing on the cake as Brody MaCombwe would score and the Saranac Spartans secured the 5-1 win. In the winning effort, Shawn McLane would make 23 saves as they go to 7-6-1 on the season while the Lakers fall to 3-7-1 on the season. The Saranac Spartans will be back in action at home on January 26th against the Plattsburgh Hornets while the Lakers will be playing the Northeastern Clinton Cougars. Gallery.

Beekmantown's Zach Lapier (19) with the goal that stuffs in the back of the net as part of a three-goal night. The #11 Beekmantown Eagles would return to the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena for the first time in the 2024 portion of the season and they would take on the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers. The Eagles would get off to a fast start and take the 1-0 lead just 29 seconds into the game on the Zach Lapier goal. The game would stay there till late in the period when Sam Bingel would score to make it a 2-0 game to end the first period. The Eagles would start the second period fast as well when Novak Jarus lit the lamp just 51 seconds into the period and extended the lead to 3-0. Then just about 1:30 later the Eagles would strike again and make it a 4-0 game on Sam Bingel's second goal of the game. Then at the eleventh-minute mark, the Lakers would finally get on the board with the Carson St. Louis goal to make it a 4-1 game. Then with 47 seconds left in the period the Eagles would regain their four-goal lead at 5-1 on Sam Bingel's hat trick goal. When the teams returned for the third period the offense would be on display for the Eagles as they would get 5 unanswered goals from Zach Lapier (twice), Keegin Rodier (twice), and Caden Columbus. The Lakers would add another with just seven minutes left in the game on the Ayden McCormick goal. The home Beekmantown Eagles get the 10-2 win though and go to 8-2 on the season and 3-0 in the conference. Section VII Boy's Hockey Semi-Finals: #3 Saranac Lake-Lake Placid Lakers @ #2 Saranac Chiefs February 24th 2023

Saranac Lake-Lake Placid's Btaden Munn (31) with the pad save as Saranac's Zach O'Connell (88) breaks in looking for the opening goal. It would be the semi-finals of the Section VII Boy's Hockey Playoffs and we would have the #3 Saranac Lake-Lake Placid Lakers traveling to Plattsburgh to take on the #2 Saranac Chiefs for the right to head to the Section VII Championship on February 27th against the #1 Beekmantown Eagles. It would be a great game between two evenly matched teams that would split their two regular-season meetings with both teams winning on their home ice. Neither team was willing to end their season on this night and they would end up going through the whole regulation game time without either team scoring. So then in accordance with the Section VII playoffs rules they would play a regular length period in overtime with the first team scoring being declared the winner. In that period the Chiefs would get the game-winner 5:27 into the overtime when Nolan Miner would score on the scramble in front of the net off the rebound to give the Chiefs the 1-0 win. In the winning effort, the Saranac Chiefs would advance to the Section VII Championship as Joey Mitchell would make 31 saves as the Chiefs go to 12-7-2 on the season. Gallery

Plattsburgh's Jace Calkins (10) picks off the pass and rifles the shot on net and ties the game at three late in the game. It would be a matchup inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boy's hockey as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Saranac Lake-Lake Placid Lakers in the next to last game of the season. The Lakers would not be the best of guests as they would get the opening goal of the game with just over a minute left in the opening period as Kellan Duffey would find the back of the net for the 1-0 Lakers lead with the lone goal of the period. Although the Hornets would fight back in the early stages of the second period and get the game tied up on the shorthanded goal by Jace Lacey 3:13 into the period. The game would stay there til the 10:10 mark of the period when Jon Kratts would score on the powerplay to retake the one-goal lead at 2-1. Then exactly three minutes later the Lakers would double up their lead at 3-1 on the Kaden Darrah goal and that's how the period won ended. The home Hornets would keep fighting through and get them back within one on the Jace Lacey goal at the 4:29 mark of the third period. The Hornets would keep coming and with just over two minutes left in the game they would get the game-tying goal off a turnover that Jade Calkins would pick off the pass and bet the Lakers netminder on the breakaway and send the game to overtime. In the overtime, the Hornet's Jace Lacey would rip the shoot on the powerplay and beat the Lakers netminder for the game-winner and the hat trick on the night as the Hornets get the 4-3 win and go to 3-13 on the season while the Lakers will finish off the regular season at 6-8. The Hornets will finish off their season Friday, February 17th as they travel to Rouses Point and take on the Cougars to close out the year. Gallery
