It would be the opening night of the 2022-23 Boy's Hockey season and the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Lasalle Cadets at the AC North arena. It would be a very even game throughout to the point that there was no scoring in the first period of the game. The Cadets would get the opening goal of the game at the 4:44 mark of the second period to take the 1-0 lead. The game would remain there till the 2:16 mark of the third period when the Hornets would tie the game on the Braeden Calkins goal. The Hornets would keep the charge going and take the 2-1 lead with about ten minutes left in the game on Braeden Calkins on his second goal of the night. The Cadets would not go quietly though as they would tie the game with six minutes left and that is where the regulation would end. The teams would play a five-minute overtime with no resolution and the game would end in a 2-2. With the tie the teams start their season at 0-0-1 an Owen Chappel would make 32 saves on 34 shots on the night. The Hornets will be back in action tomorrow afternoon against Niskayuna while Lasalle will take on the Beekmantown Eagles. Gallery

Plattsburgh's Owen Chapple (30) reaches back with the glove to make the saves as part of a 32 save night. It would be the opening night of the 2022-23 Boy's Hockey season and the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Lasalle Cadets at the AC North arena. It would be the start of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey playoffs and it would begin with the play in-game as the #4 Plattsburgh Hornets would host the #5 Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers with the winner getting the #1 Beekmantown Eagles in the semi-finals on February 24th. The upset-minded Lakers would get the opening goal of the game just 3:02 into the game from Brady Tremblay for the 1-0 lead. The Hornets would keep up the fight and tie the game at the 6:38 mark of the period on the Bostyn Duquette goal. and that is where the first period would end. In the second period, the Hornets would take the lead at 2-1 at the 3:41 mark of the second period on the Hayden Colburn goal. The game from there would get very physical til the end of the game the Lakers would have many good opportunities to get the equalizer but just couldn't get there. In the closing seconds of the game, the Hornets would add the empty netter from Drew Knowles to secure the 3-1 victory. In the winning effort, Ty Calkins would make 20 saves as the Hornets advance to the Semi-finals of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference and face off with the #1 Beekmantown Eagles Gallery

Beekmantown's Zachary LaPier (19) breaks and puts the goal over the top of Plattsburgh's Ty Calkins (31) for the score. It would be a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference between crosstown foes as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Beekmantown Eagles at the Ameri-can Arena. It would be a hard-hitting affair from the beginning and with that, the Eagles would get on the board first at the 12:15 mark of the first period on the Luke Moser goal. The game would stay there till the last 45 seconds period when Zachary LaPier would break in and score to extend the lead to 2-0. When the teams return for the second period it would be more of the same with the lone goal of the period coming from Quinn Brandell with 4:02 left to make it a 3-0 Eagles lead/ In the third period the Eagles would keep up the pressure and extend the lead to 4-0 at the 11:10 mark on the DJ Gonyo goal. Then to leave no doubt in the outcome they would add one more from James Burnham with under three minutes left to secure the 5-0 win and in that winning effort, Austin Dosier would stop all 15 shots for the shutout victory. The Hornets would answer back quickly at the 2:10 mark on the goal by Braeden Calkins and tie the game at one, The game would stay there till the 13:20 mark on the Lakers would regain the one-goal lead at 2-1. Although the Hornets would have answered with under two minutes left in the first period when Bostyn Duquette would light the lamp to tie the game at two. The Hornets wouldn't waste long in the second period and take the 3-2 lead at just 1:44 into the second period on the Jace Lacey goal. The Hornets would strike again and quickly just two minutes later when Jackson Kain would score on the power play and make it a 4-2 game. Then to close a fast five minutes the Hornets would strike again this time again from Braeden Calkins for his second of the night to make it a 5-2 game. Then early in the third period, the Hornets would put the icing on the cake with a goal by Drew Knowles to make this a 6-2 game. In the closing stages of the game, the Lakers would get one from Tyler Hinckley to make it a 6-3 game and that's where the game would end. It would be a very physical game throughout and it would take till the 11:05 mark of the first period for the opening goal from Hornets Jackson Kain for the 1-0 lead. The Hornets would extend their lead to 2-0 two minutes later on the Hayden Colburn goal. The Chiefs would answer back and cut the defect in half at 2-1 on the Buckley goal. The Saranac Chiefs would fight back and get the tie at 2-2 on the Hunter Provost goal. The game would stay there till the 10:37 mark of the period when the Hornets Jace Lacey would light the lamp for the 3-2 Hornets lead. Then in the final three minutes of the period, the Hornets would get their three-goal lead back on the Jackson Kain 2nd and third goal and make it 5-2 at the end of the second period.
