Saranac Lake-Lake Placid Lakers @ Plattsburgh Hornets Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey February 15th 2023

Plattsburgh's Jace Calkins (10) picks off the pass and rifles the shot on net and ties the game at three late in the game. It would be a matchup inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boy's hockey as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Saranac Lake-Lake Placid Lakers in the next to last game of the season. The Lakers would not be the best of guests as they would get the opening goal of the game with just over a minute left in the opening period as Kellan Duffey would find the back of the net for the 1-0 Lakers lead with the lone goal of the period. Although the Hornets would fight back in the early stages of the second period and get the game tied up on the shorthanded goal by Jace Lacey 3:13 into the period. The game would stay there til the 10:10 mark of the period when Jon Kratts would score on the powerplay to retake the one-goal lead at 2-1. Then exactly three minutes later the Lakers would double up their lead at 3-1 on the Kaden Darrah goal and that's how the period won ended. The home Hornets would keep fighting through and get them back within one on the Jace Lacey goal at the 4:29 mark of the third period. The Hornets would keep coming and with just over two minutes left in the game they would get the game-tying goal off a turnover that Jade Calkins would pick off the pass and bet the Lakers netminder on the breakaway and send the game to overtime. In the overtime, the Hornet's Jace Lacey would rip the shoot on the powerplay and beat the Lakers netminder for the game-winner and the hat trick on the night as the Hornets get the 4-3 win and go to 3-13 on the season while the Lakers will finish off the regular season at 6-8. The Hornets will finish off their season Friday, February 17th as they travel to Rouses Point and take on the Cougars to close out the year. Gallery

Plattsburgh's Brandin Calkins (12) takes around the Saranac defender Connor Graves (5) just inside the blue line to get a better angle on the shot. It would be a contest inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference tonight as the #9 Saranac Chiefs would meet up with the Plattsburgh Hornets at the AC North Sports Center. It would take just 45 seconds for the first goal of the game as the Chief's Landin Duprey would light the lamp for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there till the 5:40 mark of the period Nolan Miner would score to extend their lead to a 2-0 lead. Then at the 10:41 mark of the period the Chiefs would score again on Duprey's second goal of the period and take a -0 lead to end the period. When the teams came out for the second period the teams would play pretty even throughout and there would be no scoring as the Chiefs would hold onto their 3-0. The Chiefs would keep the scoring going as they would light the lamp 4:07 into the period when Zack O'Connell would score to make it a 4-0 game. The game would stay there till the ten-minute mark of the period when the Chiefs would score twice in 45 seconds from Landin Duprey (for the hat trick) and Nolan Miner (second of the night) to make it a 6-0 Chiefs lead. Then with just over three minutes left in the game, the Chiefs would end their scoring outburst when Zack O'Connell would get the second of the night for the 7-0 win. In the winning effort, the Chiefs would outshoot the Hornets 62-15 as they go to 10-2-2 on the season as the Hornets fall to 2-8 on the season. Gallery

Boy's High School Hockey: Bishop Timons Tigers @ Plattsburgh Hornets January 22nd 2023

Plattsburgh's (19) crashes the net as he would be going for a goal on Bishop Timon's goalie. It would be a nonleague early morning contest at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Bishop Timons Tigers in Boy's Hockey action. The game would not start off well for the home Hornets as they would give up three goals in the first period from three different scorers. In the second period, the Hornets would seem to find their stride even though they wouldn't get on the board they would stay in the contest as the Tigers would only get one goal and take a 4-0 lead into the third period. In that third period though it would all come unglued for the Hornets as they would give up five goals and the Tigers would get the 9-0 victory. The Hornets will return to action on January 26th and look to get back on track as they take on the #9 Saranac Chiefs. Gallery

Plattsburgh Hornets Vs Saranac Chiefs January 5th 2023
Saranac's Nolan Miner (9) with the goal on the short side over the goalie to get the scoring started. It would be the battle for AC North as the two teams that both call Ameri-can North Arena home would faceoff in their first of two meetings on the season as the Saranac Chiefs would meet up with the Plattsburgh Hornets. The game would start off very well for the Chiefs as they would get the opening goal of the game just a minute into the game from Nolan Miner and the 1-0 lead. Then with about ten minutes left in the period, they would extend the lead to 2-0 on the goal by Ben Phinney and that's where the first period would end. In the second period, the Chiefs would stay hot as they would make it a 3-0 game just 2:25 into the period on a goal from Evan Patrie. Later in the period, the Chiefs would strike again staying hot as Landen Duprey would score to make it a 4-0 game. Then the third period would start just like the other two with a quick from Zach O'Connell although this time Jonathan Roy would add his own goal right behind O'Connell and make it a 6-0 game. From there the Chiefs would do the rest and get the 6-0 shutout victory and go to 4-1-2 on the season while the Hornets fall to 1-3 season. Gallery
Lasalle Cadets @ Beekmantown Eagles High School Boy's Hockey December 3rd 2022

The Lasalle defender would knock Beekmantown's Seamone (6) off the puck as he charged down the ice for the offensive zone. The Beekmantown Eagles would look to continue their hot start with another home contest against the Lasalle Cadets in nonconference action. The Eagles would get off to a fast start as they would get two goals in the opening period and take the 2-0 lead. When the second period came around, they would continue their hot hand as they added another two goals, both coming from Sam Bingel to take the 4-0 lead into the third period. In the third period, the Eagles would not let up having the big lead headed in as they would get three more goals two coming from Zack LaPier and one from Louis Sweenor to secure the 7-0 win for the Eagles. With the win, the Eagles go to 2-0 on the season and are yet to give up a goal after two shutout victories. Gallery

Niskayuna Mohawks @ Plattsburgh Hornets High School Boy's Hockey December 3rd 2022

Plattsburgh's Jace Lacey (21) battles for the loose puck as they barrel down on the net with the Niskayuna defender. It would be the second night of a two game weekend for the Hornets to start the season as they would play host to the Mohawks from Niskayuna. The two teams would be very evenly matched throughout the afternoon and both teams would take there chance at getting that opening goal of the game. Although it would be a single goal scored the whole afternoon coming from Hutch Ovios in the closing seconds of the second period. The Hornets would add an empty net goal in the last minute of the game to secure the 2-0 victory. In the winning effort the Hornets finish off the opening weekend at 2-0 while the Mohawks fall to 0-2 on the season. Gallery
