Plattsburgh's Chase Laravia (2) rifles it into the back of the net and past the Pirates goal. It would be nonconference action at AC North today as the Plattsburgh Hornets would take on the Pearl River Pirates as teams look to build as they head down the stretch of the season. The Hornets would come out buzzing as they would score five goals in the opening period with four of them coming from Braeden Calkins and Chase Laravia would add one. In the second period, the Hornets would stay hot and they would another three goals 2 of them from Braeden Calkins, and James Bayers would get one to take the 8-0 lead after the second period. When the teams back for the third period the Hornet's offense was not done yet as they would another two goals this time from Dylan Pachter and Cooper Holland to secure the 10-0 win. In the winning effort, Owen Chapple would make 31 saves on the night as the Hornets would get their first win of the season and are now 1-11 on the season as they head into their game next weekend against Tupper Lake while the Pearl River Pirates go to 5-4-1 on the season. Saranac's Gabriel Moore (3) would score to make it a 4-2 Spartans lead along with getting his first Varsity goal. It would be a game tonight between the Saranac Spartans and Plattsburgh Hornets in Boy's Hockey but tonight it would be more than just a hockey game as it would be Frozen Hopes to help with brain cancer research along with in memory of Aimee McLane the mom of goalie Sean McLane that would pass just a couple days before the game. As for the game on ice, it would take till the late stages of the first period before the opening goal when Declan Baker would score for the Spartans and make it 1-0. Then with under a minute left in the period the Spartans would expand the lead to 2-0 on the Landon Duprey goal. Then just 3:08 into the second period the Spartans would start to take control of the game at 3-0 on the Landon Giroux goal. Then just about 90 seconds later the Spartans would make it 4-0 and take control of the game on the Gabriel Moore goal. Then at the 6:46 mark of the period the Hornets would get on the board and make it a 4-1 game. The game would stay there till the 2:23 mark of the third period when the Hornets would score again and make it a 4-2 game. The Spartans would answer back with two straight goals from Nolan Miner and regain their four-goal lead at 6-2. However, the Hornets would do their best to keep it a game as they would get two goals from Darren Patchen and Barden Calkins to make it a 6-4 game with 7 minutes left in the game. From there the Spartans would hold on and get the 6-4 win and go to 3-3-1 on the season but more importantly on this night getting the win for the McLane family. Plattsburgh's (22) stuffs it from the tight angle for the Hornet's goal to keep them in the game. It would be the opening afternoon of the high school hockey season for the Plattsburgh Hornets as they would host the Niskayuna Mohawks from section II at the Ameri-Can North Sports Center. The visiting Mohawks would get the opening goal of the game just 2:20 in from Max Kenny for the 1-0 lead. Then with just about three minutes left in the period the Mohawks and Kenny would score again for the 2-0 lead to end the period. The Hornets would come out on fire in the second period and make it a one-goal game on the Brayden Calkins goal. The Hornets would keep coming and tie the game up just two minutes later. The game would stay tied for most of the period but the Mohawks would regain the one-goal lead at 3-2 on the Luca Coppola goal with just under five minutes left in the period. In the third period the offenses on both teams would come alive as they would combine for five goals with the Mohawks winning the period 3-2 scoring for the Mohawks would be Jackson Rumsey and Jack Clark (twice) as the Mohawks got the 6-4 victory. In the win, the Niskayuna Mohawks start the season 1-0 while the Plattsburgh Hornets start at 0-1. The Nisyakuna Mohawks will finish off their weekend trip to the North Country as they will take on the Beekmentown Eagles on December 3rd at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena.. Gallery

Northeastern Clinton's Owen Ebersol (14) and Plattsburgh's Hutch Ovios (13) battle for the loose puck just outside the blue line. It would be the opening game of the New York State Section VII Boy's Hockey Quarterfinals and the #5 Plattsburgh Hornets would travel up to the Rouses Point Civic Center and take on the #4 Northeastern Clinton Cougars with the winner getting the right to play the #1 Beekmantown Eagles. The game would start off well for the visiting Hornets as they would get the opening goal of the game on the Jace Lacey goal at the 12:07 mark of the first period for the 1-0 Hornets lead. Then with just over a minute left in the opening period, Jace Lacey would strike again to give the upset-minded Hornets the 2-0 lead as the first period would come to end. Although when the teams would return to the second period the Cougars would cut the lead down to one just 5:17 into the period on the Marcus Bedard goal. The Cougars would keep the rush going and tie the game up at two just 22 seconds later on the Will Simpson goal and that's how the second period would come to end. The Cougars would start off the third period on fire with the go-ahead goal just 36 seconds into the third period on Will Simpson's second goal of the game for the 3-2 Cougars lead. The Hornets would keep the swarming and tie the game up at three with just over ten minutes left in the game on the Jace Lacey hat trick goal/ The tie would be short-lived though as the Cougars would retake the lead at 4-3 just over a minute later on the Lucas Hemingway goal. Then with just over five minutes left in the game, the Cougars would take the two-goal lead on the Will Simpson hat trick goal for the 5-3 lead. Although the Hornets would not just roll over and let the game go as they would score with the extra attacker with 12 seconds left in the game on the Braeden Calkins goal for the 5-4 game and that's where it would end. In the winning effort the #4 Northeastern Clinton Cougars advance to the semi-finals and will play the #1 Beekmantown Eagles as Peter Judkins would make 11 saves in the win. It would be the last game of the regular season in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey season and it would be between the host Plattsburgh Hornets and the Northeastern Clinton Cougars the winner of the game would host the play-in game of the playoffs of Tuesday. It would be a tight game throughout the early stages of the game as both teams looked like they didn't want to give up the first goal of the game and with that, the first period would go scoreless. The Cougars would finally break through and get the game's opening goal at the 4:02 mark of the second period on the Willie Simpson goal for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there till there was 3:47 left in the period when Scott Wrye would score to give the Cougars the 2-0 lead. The game would stay there till the 9:28 mark of the third period when Carter Fredette would score to give the Cougars the 3-0 lead. The Hornets would finally break through and get on the board at the 13:09 mark of the third period as Braeden Calkins's goal make it a 3-1 game. Although the two-goal deficit would be short-lived as Cougars Willie Simpson would score just 40 seconds later for his second goal of the night and retake the 4-1 lead. Although the Hornets would keep fighting and they would score in the final of the game on the Jace Lacey 4x4 goal to make it 4-2. With the Northeastern Clinton Cougars win they will host the Plattsburgh Hornets in the play-in game of the upcoming sectional playoffs Tuesday with the winner getting the right to play #1 Beekmantown Eagles in the sectional semi-finals.
