SUNYAC Men's Soccer: #22 Oneonta State Red Dragons @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals October 9th 2024
Oneonta State's AJ Lucas (gk) with the one-hand save that he sends over the net for the save. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would return home after an extended road trip and take on a SUNYAC foe like the #22 Oneonta State Red Dragons as they battle at the league's top. The teams would go back and forth throughout the first half of the game, with both teams having their chance to get the opening goal, but there would be no score in the first half. When the teams returned for the second half, the Cardinals would break the ice in the 75th minute on Brian Coughlan's third goal to make it a 1-0 game. It wouldn't take long for the Cardinals to extend their lead to 2-0 on Modou Badjie's second goal of the season in the 78th minute. From there, the Cardinals would stand tall, hold on for the 2-0 win, and improve their record to 7-1-3, while the Oneonta State Red Dragons would fall to 7-2-3. Plattsburgh State's Modou Badjie (10) with the slide tackle on Oneonta State's Joe Holder (11) to break up the scoring attempt. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would return home after an extended road trip and take on a SUNYAC foe like the #22 Oneonta State Red Dragons as they battle at the league's top. The teams would go back and forth throughout the first half of the game, with both teams having their chance to get the opening goal, but there would be no score in the first half. Seton Catholic's (6) with the goal as the Knights extend the lead to 2-0 and get their second win of the season. There would be Section VII Boy's Soccer action from Seton Catholic as the Knights would host the Ausable Valley Patriots. The game would go back and forth throughout most of the first half until the Knights would get on the board first with their goal in the 35th minute to give them the 1-0 lead, and that's how the first half would end. Then, when the teams would return for the second half, it would stay the same back and forth, and the Knights would double up their lead at 2-0 on the 58th-minute goal. From there, the Knights would hold on as they get their second win of the season and go to 2-6. They will look to gain on that as they take on Boquet Valley on October 10th. As for the Ausable Valley, the Patriots will fall to 1-8 on the season and will be back in action on October 10th against Saranac Lake. Gallery

Section VII Boy's Soccer: #8 Schroon Lake/Newcomb Wild Huskies @ Plattsburgh Hornets Otober 7th 2024
Schroon Lake/Newcomb's Cameron Jabaut (3) puts the chest to the ball at midfield to settle it as he is being checked by Plattsburgh's Scott Gommerl (9). The Plattsburgh Hornets would host the #9 undefeated Schroon Lake/Newcomb Wild Huskies in Section VII Boy's Soccer action from the Plattsburgh High Sports Complex. The Hornets would get the game's opening goal in the 12th minute from Nate Baker as the Hornets struck first for the 1-0 lead. The Wild Huskies would not go quietly, though, as they would keep coming and tie the game in the 24th minute on the Austin Hartwell to make it a 1-1 game. However, in the final minute of the first half, the Hornets would retake the lead on the Soumar Bachawatyscore, and that's how the first half would end. The Hornets would come out of the break trying to get that two-goal lead, and they would get it in the 52nd minute on the goal from Chase Laravia for the 3-1 lead, and that's where the game would end. With the win, the Hornets would go to 7-2-1 in the season and will be back in action Thursday as they travel to Beekmantown and take on the Eagles. As for the Wild Huskies, they will be right back tomorrow against the Keene Beavers as they suffer their first loss of the season and go to 9-1 on the season. Gallery

Plattsburgh's Soumar Bachawaty (10) comes in on the break and beats the goalie for the goal as the Hornets take the 3-1 lead. The Plattsburgh Hornets would host the #9 undefeated Schroon Lake/Newcomb Wild Huskies in Section VII Boy's Soccer action from the Plattsburgh High Sports Complex. The Hornets would get the game's opening goal in the 12th minute from Nate Baker as the Hornets struck first for the 1-0 lead. It would be Section VII girl's Soccer action from Seton Catholic as the Knights would host the Saranac Lake Red Storm on the pitch. The Red Storm would get the match's opening goal in the 31st minute from number 7 as they would take the 1-0 lead, and that's how the first half would end. When the teams returned for the second half, the Knights would answer in the 43rd minute to tie the game at one. The game would only stay tied briefly as the Red Storm would answer back in the 46th minute to retake the lead at 2-1 on the goal from 16. The Red Storm would keep their foot on the accelerator, adding three more goals down the stretch to give themselves the 5-1 win. The Red Storm would improve their record to 6-3-1 on the season as they will have their next game against Ticonderoga on October 9th. It would be Section VII girl's Soccer action from Seton Catholic as the Knights would host the Saranac Lake Red Storm on the pitch. The Red Storm would get the match's opening goal in the 31st minute from number 7 as they would take the 1-0 lead, and that's how the first half would end. When the teams returned for the second half, the Knights would answer in the 43rd minute to tie the game at one. We would battle in class A inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the #4 Peru Nighthawks in Boy's Soccer action. The Nighthawks would open up the scoring in the 17th minute on the goal from Zach Benson as Nighthawks would take the 1-0 lead. It wouldn't take long for the Nighthawks to extend their lead to 2-0 as Jordan Osborne would score in the 21st minute, and that's where the scoring would end for the first half. When the teams returned for the second half, the Hornets would come out buzzing, but they could not break through for a goal. The Nighthawks would take control of the game in the 60th minute on the Nolan Miner as the Nighthawks would secure the 3-0 victory. In the winning effort, the Nighthawks would stay undefeated as they go to 9-0-1 on the season and will be back in action on October 10th as they host the Saranac Spartans from the Apple Bowl. As for the Plattsburgh Hornets will fall to 6-2-1 with both their losses coming at the hands of the Nighthawks and will be back in action on Monday evening as they will host the Schroo Lake Wildcats.
