Plattsburgh's Amaya Abellard (13) is on the attack from the corner, and Peru's Ava Miller (8) is on defense. We would have the crosstown rival game as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Peru Nighthawks in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls's Soccer action from the Plattsburgh High Sports Athletic Complex. The Nighthawks would not waste time getting the game's opening goal just three minutes in when Maggie Garrow struck the back of the net for the 1-0 lead early. Although, the Hornets would be able to get the equalizer later in the half to tie the game at one point to end the first half. The game would stay tied until the 53rd minute when Amaya Abellard would score to give the Hornets the lead, and from there, they would hold on for the victory. In the winning effort, the Hornets would stay perfect on the season and go to 4-0, while the Nighthawks fall to 1-2. Gallery

This would be a game that the Hornets would be in control from the opening kick of the game as they would put up a seven spot in the first half to take control of the game In the second half it would be more of the same as they would add another three markers in the half to help them secure the victory on the afternoon and go to 2-1 on the early season. Granville/Whitehall's CJ Monty (35) with the stiff arm on Plattsburgh's Landon Ladue (4) as he battles for the first down and the extra yards. It would be the opening weekend of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Football season and it would see an intersectional matchup between the host Plattsburgh Hornets from Section VII and the visiting Granville/Whitehall Golden Horde from Section II from Plattsburgh High School. The game would start well for the visiting Golden Horde as they would take the 6-0 lead just 90 seconds into the game on a 2-yard run by the running back CJ Monty. They would answer again just over halfway through the quarter to extend their lead to 14-0 on their second running touchdown from CJ Monty. The Hornets would keep fighting and they would get on the board in the closing minutes of the second quarter when they would connect with Braeden Calkins for the touchdown reception making it a 14-6 game as they ended the first half. When the teams returned for the third quarter it would be the tale of two halves as the rain would start to fall on the game and slow down the offense. The Golden Horde would be able to get through the raindrops, get a score, and make it a 20-6 game as they would enter the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Golden Horde would be able to catch their footing in the weather as they added two more touchdowns as they would secure the 34-6 victory. In the winning effort, the Golden Horde would start their season off 1-0 as they enter section II play against Warrensburg/Lake George. As for the Plattsburgh Hornets fall to 0-1 as they will take on the Ausable Valley Patriots who will both be looking to get their first win of the season. Gallery

It would be Section X Boy's Lacrosse as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the St. Lawrence Larries in their regular season home finally from the Stafford Middle School. The game would start close and low scoring as the Hornets would have the 3-2 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the game would stay evenly matched and low scoring as the Hornets would have the 2-1 quarter and take the 5-3 lead at the intermission. When the teams would return for the second half the Hornets would still be just slightly better as it would be another 2-1 quarter and take the 7-4 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Hornet's defense would go right into shutdown mode as they won the quarter 4-0 and took the 10-4 win. In the win, the Hornets go to 9-3 as they head into their season finale on the road against the Colton Pierrepont Colts. As for the St. Lawrence Larries, they have a pair of games left as they will play Massena and Saranac Lake Placid as they look to finish above 500 on the season. Gallery

Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Malone Huskies on Senior Day for the Hornets and the kids would get a treat on the day as they would get to play on the Plattsburgh State turf field. Heading into the game the Hornets would have two games left on the regular season and already have the division clinched so they would make sure all the seniors would get plenty of playing time. In the first quarter, the Hornets would show they were in control of the game as they would have a 5-0 quarter. In the second quarter, it would be more of the same and they would have another 5-0 quarter and take a 10-0 lead into the halftime break. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Huskies would show some life and try and make a game of it but the Hornets would be up to the challenge as the times would tie for the quarter at 3 and the Hornets would take a 13-3 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Hornets would put the icing on the cake as they would have a 6-0 quarter and secure the 19-3 win. In the winning effort, the Hornets go to 8-3 on the season as they go into their last home game against St. Lawerence on Monday. As for the Malone Huskies, they are still looking for their first win as they go to 0-11 on the season. Gallery
