Section VII Boy's Soccer: Northeastern Clinton Cougars @ Plattsburgh Hornets Otober 16th 2024

Plattsburgh's Quinn Roth (10) dances with the ball and drags it around a pair of Cougars defenders for the shot. It would be Section VII Boy's Soccer action from the Plattsburgh High Athletic Complex as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Northeastern Clinton Cougars as the teams start to focus on the playoffs and a conference title. The home Hornets would waste little time getting the game's opening goal in the 9th minute from Nate Baker for the 1-0 lead. The Cougars would come fighting back and tie the game in the 17th minute on the Evais Carpenter goal to make it a 1-1 game. Then the Hornets would find a way to answer that and regain the 1-goal lead at 2-1 on the Nate Lambert goal. However, the Cougars would not let that lead stand as they would answer right back 2 minutes later in the 28th minute on the Kaze Carpenter goal to tie the game at 2. From there, the defenses and the goalkeepers would stand tall as there would be no more scoring through the regulation and the two overtimes, and the game would end in a 2-2 tie. The Hornets will go to 8-2-2 on the season as they head into their next game Friday at home against the Ausable Valley Patriots. As for the Northeastern Clinton Cougars, they will go to 8-1-4 in the season and take on the Saranac Spartans on Friday as they fight for their conference title. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Week 6: Saranac Spartans @ Plattsburgh Hornets October 12th 2024

Saranac's Landon Powers (4) with the pass breakup on the attempted scoring play in the endzone. It would be week 6 of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Saranac Spartans as part of their homecoming weekend and their last home game of the regular season. The game would start slow, with no scoring in the first quarter. The Spartans would get the game's opening score 32 seconds into the second quarter on a River Poulin 9-yard run for the 6-0 lead. The game would stay there till the 9:14 mark of the quarter when the Hornets would block the Spartan's punt attempt, and it would roll out the back of the endzone for the Hornet's safety, making it a 6-2 game. Then, in the final 30 seconds of the half, the Hornets would take the lead on a 29-yard strike to Braeden Calkins and take the 8-6 lead to the locker room. The Spartans would not go quietly and retake the lead at 14-8 on a 1-yard run by River Poulin to take the lead 14-8 at the 2:11 mark. Then, at the 6:11 mark of the third quarter, the Spartans would extend their lead to 22-8 on the 2-yard run by Zack Lucia. In the closing minutes of the third, the Hornets would cut the lead in half on the Dominic Deangelo score to make it 22-16 game. The game would stay there till the 5:48 mark of the fourth when Dominic Deangelo would score again, this time on a 56-yard pass and catch to make it a 22-22 game coming down the stretch. Then, with 12 seconds left in the game, the Hornets would drive down, hit Braeden Calkins for the 2-yard pass, and get the 28-22 victory. In the winning effort, the Plattsburgh Hornets go to 4-2 on the season as they head into their road game against the Beekmantown Eagles next weekend. The Eagles would start the scoring in the 7th minute of the game as Grace McCasland scored to make it 1-0. The game would stay there till the 30th minute when Grace McCasland would strike again and make it a 2-0 Eagles lead, and that's where the first-half scoring would end. When the teams returned for the second half, the Eagles would stay on the attack and extend their lead to 3-0 in the 47th minute on the goal from Carly Hagadorn. The Hornets would get on the board in the 63rd minute on the goal from Bailey Hewson, and there would be a bit of history as she would get her 100th point in her career, making it a 3-1 game. From there, the Eagles' defense would take control of the game, and that's where the game would end. The Plattsburgh Hornets would host the #9 undefeated Schroon Lake/Newcomb Wild Huskies in Section VII Boy's Soccer action from the Plattsburgh High Sports Complex. The Hornets would get the game's opening goal in the 12th minute from Nate Baker as the Hornets struck first for the 1-0 lead. The Wild Huskies would not go quietly, though, as they would keep coming and tie the game in the 24th minute on the Austin Hartwell to make it a 1-1 game. However, in the final minute of the first half, the Hornets would retake the lead on the Soumar Bachawatyscore, and that's how the first half would end. The Hornets would come out of the break trying to get that two-goal lead, and they would get it in the 52nd minute on the goal from Chase Laravia for the 3-1 lead, and that's where the game would end. With the win, the Hornets would go to 7-2-1 in the season and will be back in action Thursday as they travel to Beekmantown and take on the Eagles. As for the Wild Huskies, they will be right back tomorrow against the Keene Beavers as they suffer their first loss of the season and go to 9-1 on the season. Gallery

Section VII Boy's Soccer: #4 Peru Nighthawks @ Plattsburgh Hornets Otober 4th 2024

Peru's Jordan Osborne (10) and Plattsburgh's (26) battle for the ball in the corner as the Hornets try to get on the board. We would battle in class A inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the #4 Peru Nighthawks in Boy's Soccer action. The Nighthawks would open up the scoring in the 17th minute on the goal from Zach Benson as Nighthawks would take the 1-0 lead. It wouldn't take long for the Nighthawks to extend their lead to 2-0 as Jordan Osborne would score in the 21st minute, and that's where the scoring would end for the first half. When the teams returned for the second half, the Hornets would come out buzzing, but they could not break through for a goal. The Nighthawks would take control of the game in the 60th minute on the Nolan Miner as the Nighthawks would secure the 3-0 victory. In the winning effort, the Nighthawks would stay undefeated as they go to 9-0-1 on the season and will be back in action on October 10th as they host the Saranac Spartans from the Apple Bowl. As for the Plattsburgh Hornets will fall to 6-2-1 with both their losses coming at the hands of the Nighthawks and will be back in action on Monday evening as they will host the Schroo Lake Wildcats. Saranac and Plattsburgh attackers battle after the ball down the sidelines as they look to make the attack. The Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Saranac Spartans in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Soccer from the Plattsburgh High Sports Complex. The Hornets would get the scoring going first with a goal in the 6th minute from number 6 for the 1-0 lead. Then, in the 23rd minute, the Hornets would extend their lead to 2-0 on another goal. The Spartans would keep fighting and answer back in the 34 minute on the Michael Strack goal to make it a 2-1 game, but the Hornets would answer right back in the same minute to regain the two-goal lead at 3-1. The Spartans would keep fighting throughout the second half, making it a one-goal game at 3-2 in the 63rd minute. Although the Hornets would be able to fend off the challenges by the Spartans and get the win and go to 7-1-1 on the season while the Spartans fall to 5-2-1 on the season. Gallery

It would be the fourth week of Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football, and it would see the Plattsburgh Hornets hosting long-time hoe the Moriah Vikings from the high school complex. The game would start with upstart Hornets getting the first score of the game just 3:50 into the contest on the 12-yard strike to Braeden Calkins as the Hornets would take the early 8-0 lead. The Hornets wouldn't be done there, though, as they would take control of the game in the last 30 seconds of the first quarter when they would find Dominic Deangelo in the back of the end zone for a touchdown to give the Hornets a 16-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. There would be no scoring in the 2nd quarter, so the teams would head into the locker room at 16-0 Hornets, looking for the upset victory. When the teams return for the third quarter, it would be more of the same as there would be no scoring in the quarter, and the Hornets would take that two-score lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets would take control of the game at the 4:00 mark on the quarterback sneak by Dan Hartman and take the 24-0 lead, and that's where the game would end. In the winning effort, the Hornets go to 2-2 on the season as they will have a nonleague road against the Malone Huskies next weekend. As for the Moriah Vikings, they will fall to 1-2 on the season as they look to get back to 500 next week as they will take on the Ausable Valley Patriots. Gallery
