The Northeastern Clinton Cougars are crowned the 2024 Section VII Class B Girls Soccer champions after winning the game in penalty kicks. It would be the section VII Class B Girl's Soccer championship from Suny Plattsburgh State Fied house, and it would feature the top two seeds with the #2 Northeastern Clinton Cougars and the #1 Sarana Spartans for the right to enter the New York State Girls Soccer championship. Both teams would have their chances throughout the evening, but neither team would be able to score through regulation, and over time, neither team would be able to get the ball in the net. So the game would need to head to penalty kicks, and in the seventh round, we would get our winner as the Northeastern Clinton Cougars would get the win. And go to 6-8-2 on the season as they will play #2 Mechanicville in the opening round of the New York State Tournament. The Saranac Spartans' season will end on 7-6-3 the season. Gallery

Section VII Boy's Soccer: Northeastern Clinton Cougars @ #7 Peru Nighthawks Otober 11th 2024

Northeastern Clinton's Maxx Rabideau (00) with the save as the Nighthawks crashed down the net for the goal attempt. It would be the regular season final for both the Northeaster Clinton Cougars and the #7 Peru Nighthawks, and they would meet up at the Apple Bowl at Peru High School. The Nighthawks would look to avenge their only time of the season. The Nighthawks would control the game through the first half, but no one could find the niet, and it would be tied at zero. The game would stay there until the Cougars took the 1-0 lead in the 42nd minute on the Evias Carpenter goal. They would stay there till the 69th minute when the Nighthawks would break through and tie the game in the 69th minute on the Collin Powers goal. Then, three minutes later, in the 72nd minute, the Nighthawks would take the lead on the Nolan Miner goal at 2-1. Then, to finish off the 9-minute bridge, the Nighthawks would make it a 3-1 game in the 78th minute on the Nick Petro goal. The Nighthawks would get the win, finish off the undefeated regular season at 13-0-1, and go into the playoffs as the number 1 seed in the Section VII A bracket. As for the Northeastern Clinton Cougars, they will finish the regular season at 9-2-4 as they enter the Section VII B playoffs. Gallery

It would be Section VII Boy's Soccer action from the Plattsburgh High Athletic Complex as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Northeastern Clinton Cougars as the teams start to focus on the playoffs and a conference title. The home Hornets would waste little time getting the game's opening goal in the 9th minute from Nate Baker for the 1-0 lead. The Cougars would come fighting back and tie the game in the 17th minute on the Evais Carpenter goal to make it a 1-1 game. Then the Hornets would find a way to answer that and regain the 1-goal lead at 2-1 on the Nate Lambert goal. However, the Cougars would not let that lead stand as they would answer right back 2 minutes later in the 28th minute on the Kaze Carpenter goal to tie the game at 2. From there, the defenses and the goalkeepers would stand tall as there would be no more scoring through the regulation and the two overtimes, and the game would end in a 2-2 tie. The Hornets will go to 8-2-2 on the season as they head into their next game Friday at home against the Ausable Valley Patriots. As for the Northeastern Clinton Cougars, they will go to 8-1-4 in the season and take on the Saranac Spartans on Friday as they fight for their conference title. Gallery

The Hornets would get the opening goal of the game in the 15th minute mark from Olivia Lamountain for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there till the 22nd minute when the Hornets would double up their lead at 2-0 on the Amaya Abellard goal. Then in the 30th minute, the Hornets would start to put their mark on the game with Amaya Abellard's second goal of the game and that's where the first half would end. When the teams returned for the 2nd half the Cougars defense would be better as they would keep trying to get on the board. Although just a minute in the Hornets would take the 4-0 lead on the Bailey Hewson goal. The Cougars would get on the board in the closing minutes of the game but by that point, the Hornets would have control and get the 4-1 win. The Northeastern Clinton Cougars are crowned the 2024 Section VII Class B Boy's Basketball champions with their 61-51 win over the Saranac Lake Red Storm. It would be the opening game of the second day of the Section VII Basketball Championships from Clinton Community College of 5 on the schedule today. It would see the top-seeded Saranac Lake Red Storm taking on the #3 Northeastern Clinton Cougars in the class B Boys Basketball finals. The Cougars would be looking for the upset from the beginning as they would get off to the early lead at 13-10 after the first eight minutes of the game. In the second quarter, the Cougars would stay hot as they used the quarter to pull ahead with a 17-10 quarter to have a 30-20 lead at the intermission when the teams returned for the third quarter the Red Storm would regroup and come out looking to take the game back over with a 19-15 quarter to cut the lead nearly in half at 45-39 Cougars. In the fourth and final quarter, the Cougars would keep it together and regain the edge with a 16-12 quarter and get the ten-point win and a 61-51 section vii class B boys basketball title. In the winning effort for the Cougars Collen Castine would lead the way with 23 points. With the win the Northeastern Clinton Cougars advance to the NYSPHSAA Class B Tournament and will play the winner of section ii on March 6th at Averl Park. Gallery
