Plattsburgh State's Jacob Hearne (31) made the glove save as part of a 24-save night for the 5-4 win in overtime. It would be the start of the last regular season weekend from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Buffalo State Bengals as they battle to get in the playoffs in front of 1200 fans. The game would start well for the home Cardinals as they would open scoring with 2:45 left in the first period on the power play goal from Patrick Cole for the 1-0 lead. The Cardinals would keep the scoring going early in the second when Brannon Butler would score to make it 2-0 just 1:45 into the second period. Then, at the 9:15 mark of the period, the Cardinals would make it a 3-0 game on the Tyler Ramm powerplay. The Bengals could cut the difference to 3-1 at the 14:40 mark of the period when Jason Kwestel would score on the powerplay. The Bengals would make it a 3-2 game with 8 seconds left in the period on the Connor Bizal goal. The game would stay there till the 18:17 mark of the third period when the Cardinals would make it 4-2 on the Jake Lanyi empty-net goal, and we thought the game was over. However, that would be the calm before the storm as the Bengals would score 2 with the extra attacker from Tyler Penree and Austin Micale to force overtime tied at four. In the overtime frame, the Cardinals would get the winner with 51 seconds left as Kevin Weaver Vitale would beat the goalie on the top shelf and get the 5-4 win. In the winning effort for the Cardinals, they would go to 12-10-1 in the season, as Jacob Hearne would make 24 saves, and they would take on Fredonia State in the last home game of the season. As for the Buffalo State Bengals, Marcus Cumberworth would make 19 saves as they fall to 13-10 on the season and head to take on the Potsdam State Bears. Gallery
