The University of New England Noreasters would win the 2025 Comfort Inn Winter Classic with a 4-2 victory. It would be the championship game of the 2025 Comfort Inn Winter Classic from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena, It would also see the host Plattsburgh State Cardinals taking on the #15 University of New England Noreasters in front of 1,100 fans. It would take until the early stages of the second period before we would get our first score of the game, where it would see the Noreasters take the 1-0 lead on the power play goal from Juraj Elias at the 2:55 mark. The game would stay there till the final 5 seconds of the period when the Noreaster's Drew Olivieri would beat the clock and give the Noreasters the 2-0 lead after the second period. The Cardinals would come out on fire in the third period and get the game to 2-1 just 1:50 into the period on the Colin Callahan goal. The game would stay there till the 12:48 mark of the period when Drew Olivieri would score his second of the night and regain the two-goal lead at 3-1. However, the Cardinals would keep fighting and get the game within one again with 2:20 left when Kevin Weaver Vitale would roof the shot to make it 3-2. However, the Noreasters would finish the game in the final 13 seconds on the Nathan Chickering empty netter to secure the 4-2 victory. In the winning effort for the Noreasters, Stefan Carney made 27 saves, and they went to 9-5-1 in the season. As for the Cardinals, Jacob Heane would make 28 saves as they fall to 7-6-1 on the season and head into their games next weekend against Middlebury and Williams. Gallery
