The Saranac Chiefs scored a key victory on a senior night with a 6-2 win over Northeastern Clinton Thursday at AC North. The third-placed Chiefs started the game strongly against their second-placed foes, taking a first-period lead with goals from Zack O'Connell and Hayden Buckley. The second period was a back-and-forth affair and saw only one goal when Saranac's Rylee Wilson sent home a cross-ice pass from teammate Bailey Marsh at 13:45. The Chiefs extended the lead to a commanding 4-0 early in the third period with Buckley's second of the evening, before the Cougars got on the board 100 seconds later. Blake Chevalier's pass from behind the net appeared to his the back of goaltender Erick Frechette and enter the net. Two minutes later, the Chiefs regained the four-point margin, as defenseman Garrett Adolfo hit a snipe off the feed from Wilson. Despite another goal from Reid LaValley for the Cougars, a goal from Nikalas Hamel ensured the victory for the Chiefs. Frechette made 30 saves in net for Saranac, while Northeastern Clinton goaltenders Ethan Garrand and Peter Judkins combined for 27. Gallery

Northeastern Clinton's Reid LaValley (2) and Beekmantown's Gordie King (4) battle for the puck behind the net. It would be a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference matchup between the Northeastern Clinton Cougars and the Beekmantown Eagles in a battle for second in the conference. It would be a game that would live up to the hype as there would be no scoring in the first and second periods of these two evenly matched teams. Then the third period would come around and it would be a different story. It would start off good for the Eagles as they score two goals in the first 2:22 from Dalton Kane and Alex Brienza and have a 2-0 lead. Then at the six-minute mark, the Cougars would score and break up the shutout on the Jon Bulson goal for a 2-1 game. Then at the nine-minute mark, the Cougars would score again this time on the power play from Zachary Miller to make it 2-2. Then at the 11:19 mark, the comeback would be complete as the Cougars would get a second powerplay goal this time from Lucas Bedard for a 3-2. From there on the Cougars would hold on for the 3-2 depict a firey attempt from the Eagles for the equalizer. In the winning effort, the Cougars go to 5-5-1 on the season and have a matchup coming up against the Malone Huskies while the Beekmantown Eagles fall to 5-4-1 on the season and play West Seneca next. The Cougars would get the opening goal of the game at the 10:29 mark of the first period on the goal by Zachary Miller's goal to make it 1-0. The game would stay there till the 9:21 mark of the second period when the Cougars would strike again this time on the shorthand by Ryan Johnston to make it 2-0 Cougars. That is where the game would stay till the closing minute of the game when the Cougars would add an empty netter from Reid LaValley for the 3-0 victory. In the winning effort, Ethan Garrand would make 21 saves for the shutout victory as the Cougars go to 4-5 while the Hornets John Dublanyk would make 31 saves as they fall to 4-6-1 on the season. It would be the consolation game of the Applebees' Beekmantown Winter Classic between the Rye Garnets and the Northeastern Clinton Cougars. It would be a matchup between a couple of evenly matched teams and there would be no scoring in the opening period. The Garnets would finally breakdown the wall at the 8:41 mark of the second period on the Cal McLoughlin goal to make it 1-0. The game would stay there until the six-minute mark of the third period when the Cougars would tie the game up at one the Lucas Bedard goal. It was starting to look like overtime until Rye's Carter Bradford would come in on a breakaway and beat the goalie with 34 seconds left to give the Rye the 2-1 victory. It would be a CVAC regular season match between the Plattsburgh Hornets and Northeastern Clinton Cougars. The Cougars would take the early 1-0 lead in the first half. The game would remain there til there were four minutes remaining in the game and the Hornets would tie the game at 1. The team would then head to overtime where the Hornets would take the 2-1 lead 6 minutes in. Although they would have to finish the period and the Cougars would score inside the final minute and then the game would end in a 2-2 tie.

The Hornets would get the first goal of the game in the 13th minute by (4). The game would stay there until the second half and 57th minute when (10) would score to increase the lead to 2-0.
