The #5 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would meet up with the Buffalo State Bengals in SUNYAC play this would also be the home opener for the Cardinals. The Cardinals would take the 1-0 lead at the 8:36 mark on the Connor Gorman goal. Then just about a minute and a half later Zach Popp would score on the power play to make it 2-0 after the first period. When the second period opened the Cardinals would score two-goal in 39 seconds to make it 4-0 on Michael Rasida and Michael Cassidy's goals. Then at the 9:25 mark of the second Rich Botting would score on the power play to make it 5-0. Then just over two minutes later the Bengals would get on the board from Jake Rosen to make it 5-1. Then at the 15:35 mark of the second period, the Cardinals would regain there 5 goal lead on Brandon O'Quinn's go to make it 6-1. As the Cardinals would get the 6-1 victory. The Cardinals offense would just be too much for the Bengals to handle and would take a 50-39 lead at the break. The Bengals would do there best to stay with the Cardinals although their efforts would fall short and the Cardinals would get the 93-85 win. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would defeat the Buffalo State Bengals 4-3 in three overtimes to advance to the conference finals in the 2nd longest division III hockey game in history. The Cardinals would take the 1-0 lead three minutes into the second period on Jake Monney's goal. Then Jared Dockings would extend the lead to 2-0 with 9 minutes left in the second period. The Bengals would cut the lead in half with 4 minutes left in the period to 2-1. The Cardinals would take the 2 goal lead back with 2 minutes left in the third period on Patrick Jobb's goal. In the third period, the Bengals would get two goals including one with the extra attacker to sends us to overtime tied at 3. That is where the score would remain till Mark Constantine would send the home fans home happy with his goal 11 minutes into the third overtime on the 71st shot of the night.
