Stafford Ice Arena in front of just over 300 fans. There would be no scoring in the first 20 minutes of the game, but that doesn't mean the teams didn't have their chances to score. It would take until just over halfway through the second period, at the 11:32 mark, when Tessa Morris would get the opening goal of the season and give the Cardinals the 1-0 lead. The game would remain there until the 7:37 mark of the third period, when Emily Kasprzak would score and the Cardinals would extend their lead to 2-0. Then, with just over 90 seconds left in the game, the Cardinals would add the empty-netter from Tessa Morris for her second of the game, as the Cardinals would wrap up their 3- 0 victory. It would be the home opener for the 2025 Plattsburgh State Women's Lacrosse team as they would host the Castleton State Spartans in nonconference action. The home Cardinals would get off to a good start as they would have the 7-3 lead after the first quarter as Leah Klotz (three), Rachel Lamar, Nicole Resnick, Cynthia Barnosky, and Maddy Garcia would score for the Cardinals. In the second quarter, it would stay the same for the Cardinals as they would have another 7-3 quarter on goals from Tabor Iohseriio, Leah Klotz (twice), Caitlin Nash, Maddy Garcia (twice), and Ashley O'Hara as they take the 14-6 lead into the intermission. When the teams would return for the third quarters, the Spartans would make their best stand with a 4-3 quarter scoring for the Cardinals, which would be Alex LaDue (twice) and Cynthia Barnosky for the 17-9 Cardinals lead. The game would start with the Plattsburgh State Cardinals getting the opening goal near the midway mark of the first period on a goal from Colin Callanan at 9:38 for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there until the 7:38 mark of the second period when the Cardinals would strike on the power play with Aaron Catron's goal to make it a 2-0 game. The Keene State Owls would do their best to stay in the game, but in the end, the Cardinals would be too much on this day as they would add an empty netter in the final minute of the game from Aaron Catron for his second of the night as they get the 3-0 lead. In the winning effort, the Cardinals would go to 6-5 on the season, and Jacob Hearne would make 26 saves in the shutout win as they head to Connecticut tomorrow and take on Weselyan.
