It would be the consolation game of the 2026 Comfort Inn Cardinal Classic, featuring the Suffolk Rams and the Wesleyan Cardinals at the Ronald Stafford Ice Arena, in front of 200 fans. The Cardinals would get the opening goal of the game at the 10:22 mark of the first period from Danny Markham for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there till the 2:21 mark of the second period when Suffok's Nolan Leonard would score to tie the game at 1. The Rams would keep coming and take the 2-1 lead on the Aidan O'Connell powerlay goal at the 8:07 mark. However, the Cardinals would answer right back 80 seconds later and end the game at two on the Andrew Haxton goal. The game would stay there through the rest of the regulations, and they would head to overtime. Over time, the Cardinals got the game-winner three minutes in thanks to D'Tlan Mar.... In the Cardinals' winning effort, Patrick McDevitt made, and they improved to 3-6 on the season.
