Plattsburgh State's Aaron Catron (12) puts the shot top shelf over Potsdam State's Lenny Perno (28) as he gets 1 of his two goals on the night as the Cardinals get the 7-3 victory. It would be the return of the battle of the North Country as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host their travel partners, the Potsdam State Bears, from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena in front of 1,000 fans on poster night with the rare midweek game. The upset-minded Bears would get the game's opening goal on the powerplay from Eli Douhart-Wood at the 10:45 mark of the first period. The Cardinals would keep coming and equalize the game at one with the Kevin Weaver Vitale goal at the 17:16 mark of the period. Then, with just 25 seconds left in the period, the Cardinals would take the 2-1 lead on the goal from Jake Sacratini, and that's how they would head to the intermission. The game would stay until the 12:09 mark of the second period when Brody Spencer Ha would extend the lead to 3-1. The Bears would not be going away on this night as they would make it a one-goal game at the 17:21 mark on the Michael Campbell goal, and we would head to the second intermission with the Cardinals having the 3-2 lead. The Cardinal offense would be on fire in the third period, scoring four goals in just 8 minutes. Aaron Catron would score twice, and Patrick Cole and Jake Sacratini would score to make it a 7-2 game. The Bears would get a late goal with about two minutes left when Payton Felix would score on the powerplay, but the Cardinals would hold on for the 7-3 victory. In the winning effort, the Cardinals go to 9-7-1 on the season as Jacob Hearne would make 27 saves on the night, and they will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to take on Amherst. As for the Bears, they will fall to 4-11-3 on the season and will return to action on January 31st as they will take on Canton. Gallery
